In 2 weeks, it'll be ten years sober.

I don't want to write a novella, but it's been a hell of a ride. From sleeping on a mattress on the floor wearing all my clothes and still being cold, to a relatively regular existence.

A lot of the time, its been a one man show so to speak. And I'm really fucking proud of my accomplishment.

Fuck giving up on what you want and your dreams.

And fuck anyone who tries to bring you down to their level.

That level of discipline will get you everything you need in this world.

Congrats on your efforts and mad respect for getting to this point. It can’t have been easy but I’m glad it’s working out.

Need to share my joy of fucking nailing it

Everyone agrees the cheesecake is the bomb! Aww yiss! Got the security tag off too after googling what kind it was and working out it was just a beeper tag (used the "forks" method with needle nose pliers to clip the wire). 💪🏼

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Since when are they security tagging cheesecakes? Crime is outta control

DDT meet Brick the Frog. They will be door guardian of our new house. Brick will happily face hug annoying persons. Brick should not be kept in your pocket, your pants aren't engineered for that.

a brick that is a frog

We would like to file a complain to the Weather Manager.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 3 weeks ago

Your call is important to us. Due to unusually high demand an operator is currently unavailable. Please listen to several hours of aggravating musak while we clip our toenails.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah! I mean I appreciate that it's not stinkin' hot but can we have a bit more of the in-between weather instead of strobing from too hot to this? I love the rain but it sucks if you're planning on doing stuff, and I've got Mount Washmore to tackle!

Just started watching Severance and it's GOOD. Today will be spent watching an episode whenever I lose the willpower to do stuff (about 20 minutes, on average).

For anybody here wanting to really soak up the winter depression vibes in February for this limited time only:

So I’m not the only one feeling this. It’s not even winter yet 😬

Bought a new to me bike. A cheap racer. Save me lugging and parking my steel touring bike around town. If the cheap racer gets pinched, it's a bother but not the end of the world. Spent the day setting it up. Unfortunately my marathon tyres don't fit so I'm sticking with the 23mm contis it came with.

Snuggled up in bed watching the rain come down is so good!

Morning cuddles were lovely. I was holding Melbcat fully in my arms as we slept, kind of cradling her. I ruined the moment when I got up to do her meds but it’s just such a strong bond.

I really hope she’s with me for years to come because I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.

Urge to hoard power toolsI had a brain wave and went on eBay. I don’t need much in the way of power tools so found a knockoff rotary tool for under $30 and it has a drill bit included. (If I need different sizes later they’re universal right?)

I specifically looked for the rotary tool with cutting discs because I also wanted to cut plastic tubs down to make larger more shallow litterboxes that are easier to step into.

The only problem is something so cheap is usb charged. Not sure if battery, probably.

And there’s the risk of either never getting around to it or stressing us both out with noise and/or cutting a finger off. I have cheap safety glasses and ear mufflers but no safety gloves.

I would try the tutorial I saw that used a heat gun or a hairdryer to soften before cutting but my hairdryer would die before warming the plastic much and a heat gun is more expensive. Also the heat gun might be more dangerous and the sharp box cutter could slip.

I have a mini hacksaw but there’s a chance that the plastic would crack. Perhaps I can try it out on the thick rigid seedling-trays-turned-litterboxen first, just so Melbcat doesn’t have to bend her little knees as much. Maybe it could work.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 7 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

We did this with a bread knife for our old fella. The box was from petstock I think, and we have a mat in front in case litter gets scratched out. It wasn't hard to cut through, and I used a nail file to clean up the edges.

Goodnight all ❤️

Such an easy HD upgrade today. So pleased, although not having a big HD to begin with made it a quick process...

But thermal paste. Oh my lawd, thermal paste that has not dried. Cleaning that up. May it never happen again.

Did Zero Latency with some friends today. It was a lot more fun than I was expecting. A fun 40k hoard shooter campaign that was pretty enjoyable. I wonder if there's ever been a Killing Floor game there
