Is there a community on Lemmy that can help finding a game I played years ago.

The year was 1984 or 1985, last year of High School. The computer was an Apple 2e The game was a Raiders rip off with a guy in a fedora looking for treasure. It was monochrome green. I remember you had to place dynamite and run to blow through walls to get deeper inside a pyramid. It was loaded on 5 1/4" floppy disks. I guess it would need an emulator to play now.

I was playing on Sinclair spectrum and BBC b computers in the 80s but this kinda rings a vague bell. I'll ask my brother and get back to you if he remembers anything

There's "Tip of my joystick" on .ml, but it's not very active. However, you're already here, may as well ask.

A self-perpetuating meme where the objective is to forget you're playing it. By remembering it, you have lost the game, and by custom, must announce it aloud.

Don't ask to ask, just ask.

Okay I've watched a couple of vids and it might be this.

I'm wondering if there was an Aztec2 cause the name rings a bell. Thanks, I'm going to check who developed this but it looks abandoned.

Duke Nukem Sometimes: The Prequel

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

No but I enjoyed that game, although the catch phrases got on my nerves pretty quick.

Lessee. Username's a reference to Snow Crash, which is a cyberpunk book. Played the game "years ago". The game must have a name not so connected to the content that OP would have already remembered the name before posting.

I'm going to guess Shadowrun for the SNES.

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Good catch on the book but the game is from the 80's

I think you've found it. Give us some clues!

How long ago? What platform? Genre?

Temple of Apshai? No but thanks.

I live in a snowy place so I never liked winter games. Maybe if they had one about shoveling out your vehicle.

[–] Redfox8@mander.xyz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well I hit the right era, didn't expect it to be that old! The game you describe does sound very familar, I'msure I've played it...now you've got my aging memory working away!

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Its certainly a very common theme. Can't lose with pyramid treasure hunts.

I have never played Minecraft. I played 7 days to die so close enough?

I have never even heard of that one > Trog

Yes, someone else suggested that, I think it was. I just remember it being way better than it looks today. Cutting edge in the 80's.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's usually how these things play out.

Same thing happened to me when I tried watching Thundercats again. Oh boy.

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Sometimes it better to just keep the memory.

I think there is no specific community for that yet, but I'm pretty sure you can ask it in here or in something like !ask@lemm.ee

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Yes I did thanks.

[–] EbenezerScrew@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Faxanadu, or Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.

Not Megablast. I edited the question to describe the game.

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No but > Xenon 2 kind of reminds me of Galaga.

[–] Redfox8@mander.xyz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't know Gaaga, Xenon & Xenon 2, Megablast was my Atari ST era. I remember the soundtrack/music being very good for that time.

[–] HiroProtagonist@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Galaga, it was kind of a fancy Space Invaders.
