Can we all just move on from Reddit? I feel like the constant bitterness toward it only brings a negative attitude to Lemmy.

Personally, I have Reddit completely blocked on my network and the only way to “access” it is to redirect to a Redlib instance. I don’t really care to hear about it anymore.

But how will I find the solution [Comment deleted] from [User deleted] for my obscure software problems???

[–] twinnie@feddit.uk 31 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Lemmy isn’t a whole lot better. There’s still stuff you have to block straight away.

The worst part is, after you block all the foreign language communities, all the Linux, all the loli anime, there's very little left.

[–] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

So much anime feet.

I thought oh maybe i was being overzealous? Nope. Unblocked everything and quickly went back to my asexual zen of blocking all porn/pedophilic anime shit

[–] ohshit604@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

all the Linux

Unafuckingcceptable.

All the loli anime

Hwat

Like cat subs, before blocking them my screen was full of cats

[–] techognito@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

my screen was full of cats

I see no problem with this

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's by design though. The internet is for cats and porn, with a very clear line seperating them

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are you saying that a cat is fine too? 🤷‍♂️

[–] arschflugkoerper@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I was talking about the removal of a clear line between cat and porn, by producing cat people.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

I was referencing this.

Which is an indirect reference to this:

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 month ago

This definitely applies to Lemmy as well

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 month ago

Why all these Reddit memes today? Did they have another meltdown over there or what?

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Wrong, don't use Reddit

(Towerdata use even keylogging)

Reddit = Data broker

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Been a while since I've been on Reddit. Isn't the front page a collection of all subscribed subreddits? This would apply more to /r/all or am I wrong?

They add "suggested" subs to your feed now. They're labeled as such, but it's pretty annoying.

A lot of content is toxic dopamine-loop bullshit that I will consume if it's in my feed. On reddit, I stopped being able to keep it out of my life.

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Fucking hell, I'm glad I left. That sounds pretty annoying.

[–] Default_Defect@midwest.social 1 points 1 month ago

Just turn it off, I did.

[–] figjam@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago

There are some niche communities that I really enjoyed over there but its not worth downloading the app.
