Anything to divide the people and deflect from the robbery and destruction of the country. From my own family i have to say the transphobes are fearful morons. Not that it excuses anything but it explains why they fall for this transphobic messaging from the right.

the irony is palpable - why does it feel like the right always roots their attacks in projection? Is it because the projection is so easy for them to psychologically occupy while diverting attention away from their own crimes onto the victims?

For example, the claims that the LGBT+ community are child groomers is not only not true (e.g. gay folks are no more likely to abuse children than straight folks), but the reverse is true: LGBT children are more vulnerable to sexual abuse than straight children.

Furthermore, sexual abuse is found to be higher in right-wing environments, e.g. religious schools compared to secular ones. A report in Israel found students at religious schools are at more than double the risk than students at secular schools are for being victims of sexual abuse. In France, sexual abuse is most common in the family setting, but the church was the next most common place where children experienced sexual abuse.
