  • Do I cut holes in them to let air in?
  • Do I buy new ones with light weight breathable material?
  • Do I buy croc-platforms?
  • Do I buy anti-perspirants?
  • Do I add air cooling or water cooling?
  • Buy platforms shoes instead of boots?

What do I do ๐Ÿ˜ญ?

I don't want to go back to sneakers (I am tired of them), and I am too self-conscious to wear sandles or open top heals.

Hear me out... Water cooled stilts.

Also, are croc-platforms really a thing?

Edit: And, to actually be helpful, have you considered something like this?

[โ€“] Hjalamanger@feddit.nu 3 points 1 month ago

To further elaborate the stilts allow for plenty of room to run a cooling loop which could probably be run by a pump powered of your foot steps. Radiating away the heat might be a bit difficult, running a fan on your shoes might look a bit weird. Or it's just kinda a vibe and you run the fan of the water pressure from the foot step powered pump.

I'd actually love to see this done. Props to anyone who pulls it of

My first thought exactly. There's platform sandals and such.

[โ€“] Chocrates@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They mentioned being self conscious about showing toes.

[โ€“] gon@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

There's closed-toe sandals, no? Maybe those aren't called sandals...

As a boot lover, I just suffer through the heat, lmao.

I'd say follow @FoxyFerengi@lemm.ee's comment for sandals/open top heels, but maybe see if you can find more breathable socks to wear! Some can be quite cooling.

I wouldn't do any irreversible changes that I might regret in the future, especially to something that I love.

Probably buy another one that is better suited to the current predicament? I know some boots have ventilation. Not sure if Geox have boots, but they are well known to have well ventilated shoes.

Also, what's wrong with sneakers?

[โ€“] 58008@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Boots should really come with an exhaust so that with every step you're pushing air/moisture out the back end. Nothing like a big pipe or anything, just a wee hole and a sort of bladder that fills with air when you lift your foot and pushes it out again when you step on it. Sure, you'll sound like you're stepping on farting mices everywhere you go, but if you just cough with each step you should be fine.

Probably find something else you enjoy that can be worn during your summers. Some kind of platform shoe, if I had to guess.

Are jelly platforms something youโ€™d consider?

[โ€“] doomsdayrs@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

Platform crocs?

[โ€“] Username@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 month ago

They also have the Clog Boot if you are specifically after a boot look.
