If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.

Over 40 Labour MPs have expressed strong opposition to proposed disability cuts, calling for a pause and change in direction ahead of a significant House of Commons vote next month.
The proposed changes include tightening eligibility for personal independent payments and potential cuts to incapacity benefits, affecting 700,000 families already in poverty, and sparking anxiety among disabled individuals and their families.
The letter from MPs urges the government to conduct full impact assessments and engage with disabled people's organizations to create a supportive and less complex system, with an emphasis on job creation and protection against discrimination.

Given it's labour. Pretty disgusting that only 42 objected.

They need 76 to limit their own majority.

And let's face it. Even then the Tories are going to back them.

Non arseholes really have no significant representation in parliament anymore.

That said, Starmer only needs a move twice as controversial as this to run into problems. (assuming he doesn't work with the Tories)

Huge assumption. Considering his disability cut are implementing Tories pre election policy.

As for 2x as controversial as removing much of the support, provided to allow disabled to interact in society on anything close to an equal basis.

Seems selling weapons to a genocidal nation dose not manage to make it.

Seems he will need to actually need to start declaring the advantages of fascism or aspartate.

More ammo for Reform by trying to appeal to their base. They realise people voted for labour right? I get we have to recoup after 14 years of giving our taxes to the rich but we're going to just have the country over to a party that will promise the earth and deliver more corruption.

Glad we got rid of Corbyn though eh?..

This is good to see. 40 rebels isn't nearly enough to stop it – but there are some big names on the list, including people from the left and right of the party.

And: 40 rebels is enough that removing the whip from all of them would be madness. It might be enough to plant the seed that "rebelling is an option, actually".
