would 1337x.to be good? I have a VPN to protect myself and know how to seed properly. I don't plan on doing this a lot. I just had trouble finding a particular old film in high quality and decided to pay it forward and post it myself.

Archive.org (if it's old enough) or tankie.tube are good too.

Pass the Popcorn or another private tracker. They are archives for old and quality films. Public trackers don’t encourage preservation and seeding in the same way.

Why not seed it on a public tracker? That's where I get all my stuff. Private trackers seem like way too much work. I'd have to get a seedbox and keep up seed ratios and spend space on stuff I don't need that's recent but popular. Seems annoying.

I recommend spreading it on 1337.x and torrent galaxy, although that's been down a lot lately, so maybe that won't work.

this was my initial intent. I, roo, primarily use public trackers and there's no way I'm going to the trouble of setting up an account to upload on a private tracker.

What’s the movie if i may ask?

If your obscure film isn’t already on cinemageddon then that’s the place.

if you need an old film, check internet archive or dailymotion. even search it on youtube. if its super old it could even be on one of those public domain movie sites.

torrents arent great for super old/obscure stuff since most times nobody will be seeding it so you cant download it

Leetx won't give you an account just to post one thing, those are for people who promise to provide regular content and pass a questionnaire. You can go into their IRC channel and see if you can find someone with posting privileges who'll post it for you though. You can also just start seeding it on your own and add a few basic trackers to it without uploading anywhere, DHT scrapers will find it and it'll start to appear on certain trackers for those and spread out into the wider ecosystem as people use search tools like jackett or the arrs and find it, with luck one of them might even re-up to a private tracker for longevity. Archive dot org is also not a bad suggestion but things can pretty easily get taken down from there as well, it's kind of luck of the draw how long it stays up, could stay up years, could be taken down in weeks.

The pirate bay might still allow new accounts to upload, my only guess at the moment.

If it is particularly rare and you can add big public announcers to it and seed with a DHT client someone here might be able to upload it to a private tracker for you (if they know the name). Otherwise at least with DHT on and some open trackers added people will find it eventually though it may take a few days or even weeks to start propagating and if interest is low it could take months before anyone tries to download it but such is the way of things. Make sure to name the torrent and files accurately with the movie name, year, source (like bluray), etc.
