I wonder if this is one of those "accusations that are really admissions" situations and trump's currently hiding a terminal diagnosis.

Yes, and we can only wish that he were hiding it better.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I'm not even going to argue the suggestion. I will only ask so the fuck what if it's true? Is he not allowed time to deal with this in private? Maybe fight it in private?

If he'd come out with it earlier, wouldn't you then complain that it was for sympathy or to manipulate the election or something? So why open your fat orange mouth then?

[–] Are_Euclidding_Me@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No, I don't believe that the sitting president of the US, who is currently running to keep that office, is allowed to keep secret a major health issue that absolutely affects his ability to be president.

Joe Biden isn't just, like, some guy. He was, up until January, one of the most important public figures in the world. No, his health concerns should not be private, not if they affect his ability to do his duty.

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 1 points 1 day ago

So what do you think of FDR and Reagan handling of their medical diagnosis?

[–] SwingingTheLamp@midwest.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What do you mean by "allowed to"? The current, sitting President is doing it, and nobody is stopping him. That seems to indicate it's allowed.

Oh, you're right, I should have said "should not be allowed to" or "in a better world would not be allowed to". Because yeah, covering up serious health issues impacting politicians happens fucking constantly, so clearly it's allowed

Maybe don't have genocidal, geriatric plague bearers running the country, idk... I mean the guy was suffering from cognitive decline on top of this. If I was a gazan, knowing that the dementia ridden octogenarian supplying the weapons to kill me, my friends and my family, had nothing to lose because he was also dying of cancer, wouldn't exactly fill me with hopes of a reprieve.

Anyway fuck Biden. He should be called out. He's a mass murdering, racist monster and his legacy should be dragged through the mud. I hope he dies in agony. It's a shame he can only die once really.

"Deserves time to deal with this in private..." fuck no. He deserves to have a bomb dropped on his head

Your entire comment is complete fucking irrelevant to my point. Jesus Christ all the fucking Gaza grandstanding is obnoxious. This bullshit was irrelevant during the election and it's even more ridiculous now when someone even worse is in office and you're still stuck on calling out Biden. There's not a president in the last fifty years who would've done anything different. I honestly don't believe you give a fuck about Palestinians except perhaps in the most performative, self-serving way. If you did, you wouldn't do your level best to convince people that supporting Palestinians is something only assholes do. Have you even fucking donated actual money to them or do you just try your hardest to alienate folks who have?

ETA: You know... I'm not even trying to ask anyone to shut up. Keep speaking out. I'm mostly just exhausted when my comments become a convenient prompt to post someone's anti-Biden screed. Post all that shit as a top-level comment. I just don't have the emotional bandwidth right now to deal with how awful Biden was on this issue when there are currently so many more present problems to contend with including what can actually be done to help Palestinians now rather than 5 months ago.

2025 - 1982 = 43

even fucking reagan did more to rein in israel than biden. even fucking reagan

Donated and marched many many times. Long before October 7th too.

The thought that my comment could alienate someone who supports Palestine is hilarious

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No this was pretty relevant during the election and now.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It wasn't relevant to the election. If every single person who didn't vote for Kamala over Gaza had voted for her, she still would not be President. Folks who withheld their vote aren't to blame for Trump, but they also did nothing to move the Democratic Party.

This outrage over Gaza is the loudest and most prolonged I've seen over any of them, and it still doesn't have any traction. And so I say it isn't relevant today. Republicans don't care. Democrats (the party) don't care. And it's not doing a fucking thing to help Palestinians.

That doesn't mean I don't support the people of Gaza. It doesn't mean I'm happy with the status quo. It means if you want to make a real change, you have to go about it a different way. I don't see this working.

Do you know when it will be relevant? When Democrats have some power and need the support of pro-Palestinian Congress members to pass bills. Until then, this is just impotent rage.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

Lol. The Democratic party won't move. And it's not entirely known how many votes and states were lost due to the refusal to do anything other than promote a genocide. If you want to look at the number of uncommitted votes, that will dramatically under count the people who would not vote for these candidates.

As for trying other tactics, I would suggest you look at what you're suggesting. Consider how that has led us to the current political situation. And try to think outside the confines of the democratic party.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

so you're saying someone going through cancer treatment (which is pretty harsh and melts your brain, actually) while being president is a private matter? aight.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Eat shit, zionist fuck. God DAMN it I hate liberals like you. you couldn't fathom that people believe in anything because you believe in nothing.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Zionist. Right. I have done actual shit that can make a difference like donate money and contacting legislature instead of bringing it up every time Biden's name is dropped.

But hey, go fuck yourself. This comment has been helpful for expanding my block list to include folks I have no time for. Good luck saving lives with your savage burns on the internet.

Too stupid; didn't read

I don't owe you an audience for your bullshit. Have a shitty day.

He has nothing but hate

His ego is so fragile, his ignorance so blind and his intellect so feeble that it's the only thing he understands

Trump appeared to conflate the Gleason score — a measurement of how aggressive cancer cells appear to be — with the stage of Biden's cancer. Biden's Gleason score was 9, indicating it is aggressive. He has Stage 4 cancer, the most serious of the four stages. (There is not a Stage 9 cancer.)

Trump saying he was at 'stage 9' and hid it. This is a great example of how he does what he does. When asked a question he whips up these semi-plausible sounding lines of bullshit directly on the spot to criticize whomever his target of the moment is, and before anyone can parse out what he just said to correct it he's moved onto the next line.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I mean it's a personal medical diagnosis. He's not obligated to share it all really

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What do you think the guy who has been undergoing medicals like every month suddenly has late-stage prostate cancer?

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 day ago

right? trump is right on this one but also why does it matter?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

Broken clock...

Them announcing it literal days before the book about how everyone hid Biden's health issues is pretty clearly an attempt to turn it into a sympathy thing, rather than something insane the old leadership of the DNC, Biden's admin, and the mainstream media colluded on.

It already caused the DNC to turn away from neoliberals, but this is still part of the neoliberals damage control.
