Russell for driver of the day. He's given me the most entertaining story of the race.

Noooooooo not Alonso with the engine issues. Can't believe he still has no points on the board.

This broke my heart.

These cars are just too big for this circuit. Extra stops can't fix the fact that overtaking is impossible here.

[โ€“] jimbolauski@lemm.ee 4 points 9 months ago

The extra stop just highlighted how terrible Monaco is.

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Geez Gasly. Surprised he made it to the pits even if to retire.

Wonder what damage might be on Tsunoda's car.

Overcutting remains powerful at Monaco, who ever could have predicted that? Great by Ferrari to gain two positions for Hamilton.

Well executed strategy by VCARB. Hadjar got his 2 stops with no consequence.

Beautiful 2.0s pitstop for Leclerc. Held off Piastri's undercut.

Russell deliberately cutting the chicane because he knows he can get 10 seconds in 3 laps.

Drive through penalty oof ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] Microw@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

And still managed to finish higher than he would without that illegal overtake..

[โ€“] mhague@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Lando locking up after watching that f2 start definitely amped up my heartrate

Beautiful teamwork by Racing Bulls to secure what looks like an amazing finish for Hadjar. Very puzzling no other team tried to do the same. McLaren especially should have used Piastri to do the same for Norris, surely? But I guess failing attempting an undercut on a track where the undercut rarely works is also an appealing strategy...

[โ€“] Microw@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

Williams did the same, it just wasnt as visible in the broadcast.

[โ€“] jimbolauski@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

You risk losing positions with your 2nd driver by protecting your 1st. I'm not sure other teams didn't think about it, they may not have seen the benifits.

Brave overtake for Bortoleto at the hairpin. Unfortunate and slightly comical run into the barriers afterwards. Glad to see him rejoin the race.

Fascinating seeing all these different tire strategies. Let's see how this race goes with the 2 mandatory stops.

[โ€“] urquell@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

I wonder why they didn't immediately take their second stop

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 9 months ago

DNF for Alonso now, because why not. He is so fucking unlucky man. Just pure pain. Even though they screwed him on strategy he was on for some decent points.

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 9 months ago

Albon backing up the field now to give a free pitstop to Sainz. Good stuff by Williams.
