Thanks everyone for the kind words yesterday. It really means a lot ❀️

Edit: This is the vibe at my house right now

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was up a few times last night coughing and miss kitty is still curled up in her igloo not talking. I think I interrupted her beauty sleep

I have returned from the market.

The very handsome dude who sells me salami (this is not a euphemism, stop laughing) has grown a beard, and is even more absurdly attractive now

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 12 points 1 week ago (3 children)

It's my last day with sox, and I feel sad that I must peel myself away to go work on the thesis of doom. Rather than spend a goblin mode day with her cuddled up on the oodie watching dumb shit and tossing snacks around the room for her

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I demand another piccy of sox!

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Since you demanded so nicely, here's a couple of blurry mediocre shots from last night when I got home late and was crouched on my knees on the couch, which was an invitation for sox to jump onto my back and park herself there for a minute

a world-first for this feline

she loves everyone:

I have extricated myself from the warm cocoon of bed and am staring blankly at a screen but I promise to get some more pics tonight.

Perhaps she will be back soon πŸ˜”

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

It depends a lot on her human who is... Kind of flaky tbh. He's got a good heart but his life is in a bit of a shambles of his own creation atm. At a crossroads where I think he's very tempted to sell up what he has and float around; sox is the only real commitment he has tying him to one place...

If it came to it, I'd seriously consider adopting her but not for quite a while yet as I intend to end my lease and put my stuff in storage for a bit while I figure myself out before I come back and have more of a plan for how to secure my own home (if it's at all possible).

Just went to a local shopping centre and got my fix of food court Chinese food, love it. Also unashamedly purchased a pair of Kmart trackies for each family member. They are unfortunately all the same shade of darkish grey ($8). Hey, the men's cheap trackies are cheaper, thicker and warmer, and come in more serviceable colours than the ones in the women's section, so 4 pairs of men's trackies in varying sizes it was. I am a bogan.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Better to be warm and comfy!! What's your go to plate? I'm a sucker for a sweet n sour pork, but my local place does a bangin' beef satay.

Wooo brewery all sorted and bagged out with dust sheets for the back wall repoint...looks like a fuggen murder dungeon now.

We both have very black senses of humour so i'll keep the running commentary to the family

Happy Winter Solstice

It contains Bailey's with a hint of coffee.

[–] T156@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think the hot drink might be getting a bit too hot in that second photo.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

That hot drink was just to put a lining on my stomach before I hit it hard.

There is a sound that no matter where I am or what I'm doing in the house I recognise it in a millisecond:

The cat hocking up a hairball.

Also it feels like 8pm and it's only 6...

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Atleast you get a warning. My dog coughs once and then out it comes.

Is anyone else gonna have a bonfire tonight and howl at the moon?

So apparently there’s β€œcrumpet toast”. With butterscotch chips in it.

I just made some, and it’s the business

My mum sent me this photo, and I didn't even notice the bird at first. There was more going on in the background, but I cropped it to reduce the likelihood of being doxxed.

Reminds me of this

Was going to go to the gym but will rest tonight instead. I think I'd be pushing too hard if I went tonight.

So:

Feed the cats

Make dinner

Setup drumkit and have a play

Maybe some video games

Cuddle with Fluffball.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sounds like a plan.

Hope you have fun with your Drum kit!

I went to the local repair cafe and spoke to them about running an information session on switching old computers to linux.

They're open to it, so I'll have to put some things together and figure out a date.

I figure I could always make a big deal about linux gaming and turning your old hardware into a steam deck, then targeting it at teenagers in the area if I want to boost numbers

I'm home from work early as my voice deserted me. Mr Woof is thrilled.

Happy Solstice for lunchtime today!

That damper was unreal. I've never done it in foil and straight into the fire. I've done it heaps of times in the camp oven and in oranges.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

Gonna make a stir fry and settle in for footy. Tonight’s good

I watched β€œThe Surfer” last night. The plot was surprising and totally unexpected.

I went in thinking it was going to be yet another tale of revenge. I didn’t anticipate a fever dream commentary on the Australian housing market.

Nic Cage once again devours his roll in that batshit crazy style he has perfected over the years.

Opinions will vary on this one. 3.5/5 flat whites

yay, I have finished the painting. Now just to do to two more drawer liners, buff the paint with some brown paper to get the sheen patterns off and then tidy up. 😊

fuck, that was not an easy job, I first spent a week cleaning 70 years of yellow gunk from smoke from all the furniture, sanded everything, then had to do four coats to cover the white enamel. I also repainted the brass drawer handles in a silver gold paint . It might take a month for all the paint to fully cure.

I have wrecked two pairs of jeans with paint and my new slippers, luckily they were old jeans and cheap slips.

My new desk is huge but then I remembered I got it to do art work on , for big pieces of paper, so that's cool. Think I'll repolish it before I use it. 😊

I'm having a really rough trot.

spoiler

I'm in quite a bit of pain, miss cooking and eating, and especially miss having the energy to do stuff -_-
