What's the dominant theory for why the U.S. gets involved every 10 years?

Does each war only last 10 years and they need to renew their subscription?

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 24 points 1 month ago

Afghanistan lasted 20 years, so them having to renew every 10 years might be true

There's always a war

If you want to get weird, there's an astrologer named Nick Dagan Best that wrote a book about the US and 80-ish year cycles that follow the 7th planet in our solar system.

It's called "UranUSA". I seriously think he might have just come up with the title and worked backwards.

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's an equally good reason for starting wars I guess

Are the lizard people half vampire? Hard Copy investigates

For this to make sense, we'd have to leave at some point in between the peaks...

It's been a forever war for generations at this point.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 10 points 1 month ago

It's just predicting when the wars start, not when they end. They can overlap.

Please tell me when we are going to get the solar activity that’s going to knock out all of Musk’s satellites and slow all this shit down to an effing crawl.

Information says the infrastructure is resilient enough that it wouldn't do much

[–] wowwoweowza@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, there goes that dream.

[–] Midnight1938@reddthat.com 2 points 1 month ago

Eh, they're easy to spin up an excuse for, won't terribly fuck up diplomatic ties and not likely to give a significantly challenging battle so they can hoot usa usa. Honestly at this point the US is just farming the middle east for jingoism points

You joke, but there’s credible intelligence that Iranian scientists are close to completing an Antikythera Mechanism

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

so the joke is that they're making ancient technology?

[–] yumpsuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

timeless, mystical technology for dancing to the music of the spheres…

(Iran building tons of cool shit and cultivating local expertise under sanctions is an amazing accomplishment , and I hope they’re building sweet-ass planetariums)

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It’s hard to seriously call it an “intervention” when one man needed to extend the state of national emergency so that he’ll never sees one day in court on corruption charges.

[–] sheogorath@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Looking at the graph also shown that there's always an economic crisis during the low solar activity.
