From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

This should be the poster kernel for Ubuntu Satanic Edition.

Still no bcachefs? Wasn't in the article.

Linus Torvalds himself had some issues compiling it or something, so it got rejected. The bcachefs dev wasn't too happy and thru a hissy fit, calling the whole process "kafkaesque", and declared that he'll be going offline for a while.

Where did you find that information?

Check the link in the comment above yours.

Yes, bcachefs isn’t going to be in 6.6

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

The Linux kernel doesn't pass the bcachefs test.

Make Linux 6.6.6 an LTS version.

[–] RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

if you boot into a 6.6.6 kernel with a idkfa flag it actually boots into UEFI-DOOM.

[–] yum13241@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Hahahahah, I already knew about UEFI-DOOM and it sucks to play.

yes, the scary number. followed shortly by vendor patches to make it 6.6.7 (MHz) so that customers arent frightened

You'll see this kernel in RHEL 13. ;)
