What is Cyberpunk?

Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). If the punks aren’t actively fighting against a megacorp, they’re still dealing with living in a world completely dependent on high technology.

This looks like it might have more cyberpunk themes than the Schwarzenegger version while still retaining some of the light-hearted aspect of it. With Edgar Wright directing, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Looks like it's a lot more true to the novella than the Schwarzenegger movie was. The novella is awesome btw, some of Stephen King's best writing. (just don' t read the intro by King bc it contains a major spoiler.)

'Sub zero. Now plain zero!'

I miss me some Arnie puns

This looks way cooler than the Arnie one. And I love that one.

My problem with these modern action movies is that the heroes are always trying to look so cool. Their presence on the screen feels shallow, like looking at their Instagram clips.

Give me the cool heroes of the 80s and 90s that acted like they were in the scene and not on a runway or in front of a cell phone streaming for their fans. This trailer is a big meh from me, but we'll see how the film pans out.

I don't think whoever made the trailer gets Edgar Wright. It's all over the shop tonally. Folks who see this are gonna be so confused.
