I wonder how many it's actually going to be.
I figure, most people in that boat would have already joined here.

Yeah I feel that a vast majority of them would just install the Official™ Reddit app and live with the crap. We'll see though.
Probably when people start actually not being able to use their apps of choice they will more seriously consider switching. Especially since apparently one of the Reddit apps is being ported to Lemmy, will probably take a lot of users with it.
I think most people still on Reddit are just trying to see how bad it actually goes, with the hope that maybe it won't be as and as everyone says it will be. Platform inertia is very strong with any social media and the majority will not be easily convinced to switch to anywhere else.
Yep. I think more people will be realize when they actually see the damage and start switching.
Personally I'll continue to use reddit after I recompile Infinity for Reddit with my own personal API key. I'm not using the official client. However I'll be more active here
I just resorted to using old.reddit.com with adblock. Jokes on them, it takes more server resources to serve a full webpage than an API return.
I hope Lemmy develops a good writing and world building community so I can quit Reddit entirely.
I didn't use a 3rd party client before, I 100% will be now. I don't know how I put up with that...
I joined way before the protest.
Our servers are slow under pressure, theirs are crashing without any activity.

Those are antiservers, built with antihardware, in an antimatter universe.
Do you really think there will be a big rush on Lemmy's servers on July 1st? In my opinion most people that wanted to switch to Lemmy/boycott Reddit already did so. The rest will just use the official app or the browser website.
I think there won't be an immediate rush, but I do think there will be a sporadic sine wave of people checking out the place. Funny enough the best thing people can do is hold off posting memes and then doing it on the 1st of July for maximum engagement.
No. Once 3rd party apps shutdown people will realize how shitty the official app is.
Once sync for lemmy releases majority of sync users will install and start using it side by side with reddit.
If Apollo, boost and other third party apps developer also switch to lemmy then it will become even more active.
At some point we will start searching keyword + lemmy on Google.
Hopefully we search keyword +Lemmy on ddg
I wish I had your optimism
Thankfully, I don't think Lemmy needs millions of active users to be good. Even currently there's more than enough content for me and I still expect it to grow
I came early
It's okay babe, happens to a lot of men.
Yeah one day I’ll get over it but for now I’m here on lemmy and I’m liking it so far :)
Happy to start populating posts with comments so people feel like it's not a graveyard cause posting comments also shits the bed when the servers are overloaded
Mine just shit the bed replying to your comment.
Edit: I had something to say too, damn
Populate while we can! Server errors incoming!
Someone finally did it
either we have 2 days left for the people that runs lemmy.world to upgrade their server stuff or we have 2 days left till we get reddit hug of death’d by the refugees
^(granted i wont complain much if the latter occurs since im also a reddit refugee)
Just join kitsunes.cafe and division by zero!
Lemmy servers on July 1st:
Why are we here? Just to suffer?

Welcome
That's a better title thanks
This is why I created accounts on multiple instances NOW.
No big bang, only a prolonged implosion
