These people literally built a cult around exposing child sex trafficking and around Trump and the nanosecond Trump is implicated as being a diddler himself they drop it like a hot potato. Astounding!

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago

It's hardly surprising, the actual child sex trafficking was irrelevant, the goal was always to "own the libs" so now they'll probably start being pro-pedophilia (even more than usual) because that will get under lib's skin.

i guess the "epstein didn't kill himself" is a slogan that is on the left now

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 25 points 4 days ago

I am shocked that the party that screamed "SAVE THE CHILDREN" for almost a decade now is suddenly very much not caring about the children when their demagogue got caught with his hand in the cookie jar of the thing they hate.

I get that these people have demonstrated time and time again that they are intellectually malleable and have short attention spans, but this was the cause celebre for years. The immunity to cognitive dissonance is astonishing.

a lot of trump's hardcore supporters really are secularized evangelicals who either perpetrated or grew up in the moral panics of the last 40 years: satanic panic, anti-queer anything, banning hip hop records. that demographic has been swimming in cognitive dissonance their whole lives.

Nobody's home in that labyrinth but the Minotaur.

This is funny but I have been shocked at how many CHUDs seem to be having a crisis of faith over this.

[–] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 29 points 4 days ago

It seems all of us, the Trump administration included, underestimated the number of people who genuinely believed that Trump hung out with Epstein so as to "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." I think we all thought that was bad faith but it turns out some folks were just that gullible, and even they have a limit.

(They'll forget about it in a week, probably, but it's been interesting to observe.)

Stages of grief

1.) Denial

2.) Bargaining <--- chuds are here

3.) Anger

4.) Depression

5.) Acceptance

Conservative damage control is funny because we all know you got all excited and wouldn't shut up about that list when billdawg showed up but suddenly get cold feet and start bemoaning about how tiring the list is when trump is also on there.

>perspective, nuance, patience, and common sense need to make a comback

LOLOL That's absolutely rich, go fuck yourself.

They didn't bemoan it when Trump was involved, they made up an entire fictional canon explaining how Secret Agent Trump is actually on the good side

That Charlie Kirk tweet really sums up white kkkristian paranoia about Muslims that's been brewing for decades. These people are souless demons that want to more than anything, exterminate people who are the wrong religion, race and politics. It's grim out their folks.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Kirk is a fucking moron, obviously, without question, but idk where he gets off saying Muslims are taking over the west when last I checked...Judeo Christian supremacy is the law of the land.

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

The classic fascist oxymoron with being superior while also being under threat by rootless cosmopolitans/jews/muslims/out-group de jour,

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

A hidden imaginary enemy is the best one to stoke fearmongering, because you never know when they could strike, so people are always exhausted and paranoid, which makes them much easier to manipulate.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago

He wants to bring European style racism and brainworms to America

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I noticed the "we did nothing wrong" press brief basically just said "nobody went into or out of the area of the prison he was in" but 1) hows that work, didn't someone need to feed that cracker or make a check? 2) what if, gasp, they were already in that area before that night?? 🙄

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

I'm not too worked up on it one way or the other, if he killed himself or not, with that said though there's like a bunch of different ways I'd imagine to off him then cover it up.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

they sound just like soy libs now lol

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's been so weird watching this party flip, with the Dems acting like the Neocons of 15-20 years ago, and the Republicans acting like the libs.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 3 points 3 days ago

if the FDR era flip was the tragedy i guess this is the farce

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

I mean, quite a few conservatives I've seen take the position of blaming everyone but Trump. Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, etc.
