It's hardly surprising, the actual child sex trafficking was irrelevant, the goal was always to "own the libs" so now they'll probably start being pro-pedophilia (even more than usual) because that will get under lib's skin.

I am shocked that the party that screamed "SAVE THE CHILDREN" for almost a decade now is suddenly very much not caring about the children when their demagogue got caught with his hand in the cookie jar of the thing they hate.
I get that these people have demonstrated time and time again that they are intellectually malleable and have short attention spans, but this was the cause celebre for years. The immunity to cognitive dissonance is astonishing.
a lot of trump's hardcore supporters really are secularized evangelicals who either perpetrated or grew up in the moral panics of the last 40 years: satanic panic, anti-queer anything, banning hip hop records. that demographic has been swimming in cognitive dissonance their whole lives.

This is funny but I have been shocked at how many CHUDs seem to be having a crisis of faith over this.
It seems all of us, the Trump administration included, underestimated the number of people who genuinely believed that Trump hung out with Epstein so as to "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." I think we all thought that was bad faith but it turns out some folks were just that gullible, and even they have a limit.
(They'll forget about it in a week, probably, but it's been interesting to observe.)

I noticed the "we did nothing wrong" press brief basically just said "nobody went into or out of the area of the prison he was in" but 1) hows that work, didn't someone need to feed that cracker or make a check? 2) what if, gasp, they were already in that area before that night?? 🙄
