Ebikes, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, longboards, eboards, motorcycles, skates, unicycles, heelies, or an office chair: Whatever floats your goat, this is all things micromobility!

"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

Bring on more EV motorcycles. Give me one that looks like a classic touring bike please. I want an electric motorcycle, not a cyberpunk cosplay.

Yup, no bells and whistles, and no fuggin app! Just a bike that goes and stops, and can handle my commute.

If honda can make the Cub of EVs I would be interested.

The Kawi hybrid was super interesting to me, as a first attempt I think it was alright. Next Gen hybrid motorcycle would be great as a one vehicle garage. The honda EV would be my N+1 though.

What's the patentable part of it?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

Nothing obvious. I doubt "cooling fins" or "combustion aesthetics" haven't been done before.

Honda hasn’t revealed a timeline or pricing yet, but Honda’s patents offer real hope to fans of the brand’s electric efforts. If scaled effectively, this could be the first truly mass-market electric motorcycle from a major OEM, with a sticker price likely far below the $5,000 mark usually seen as a floor for commuter electric motorcycles from major manufacturers.

The part that should be in the title

EV trade Magazine headline: “Lowest Price Vehicle Ever”

But how are Chinese brands not eating their lunch? Chinese cities are literally filled with electric two-wheelers of all kinds, already. The country has the tech edge in EVs and batteries, hands down. How is this legacy Japanese brand gonna compete on cost? I mean, I want them to succeed, but how?

Young Jim Kirk has joined the chat and wants the transparent aluminum wheels option.
