I just got my own Thinkpad, and after 2 days I finally managed to stop Kubuntu and Mint from eating eachothers EFI partition (by manually moving them into separate partitions).

Why have two separate Ubuntu based Linux distros installed? You can just install KDE inside Linux Mint.

I need two distros that are bare-metal and kept separate. May aswell have just gotten a second computer at this point though.
