I have crafted a spaghetti policy that you may find highly reasonable.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

As long as they're straight, like an uncooked noodle - And you don't get floppy on them, like an overcooked noodle.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

I promise a firm but fair noodle.

By the way, you probably want to set English as an allowed language. Currently, you can only select "Undetermined language" when posting.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yes. And also "Italian gesticulation" so we can express how much we're enjoying pasta-related media.

This is good wisdom. I shall implement.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

INB4 the first flame war about other pasta shapes!

(And just barely, too, 'cause somebody's already bucatini-posting in there.)

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This would fall under the no pasta shaming rule.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

What rule is that? I can't find it written anywhere.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's rule number 6 at the bottom. It says "No Pasta-Shaming", indicating that shaming of different pastas is against the spaghetti policy.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Hmm... I could've sworn that whole block of text wasn't there when I looked at the page before.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

It’s very possible! I put it up recently when people asked for the spaghetti policy and realized I didn’t have one. It was like being in the middle of Walmart and realizing I was naked the whole time. β€œNot again…”

It feels like a betrayal of the highest order that perogiboy is making a spaghetti comm. WHAT ABOUT YOUR BELOVED PEROGIS??

[–] Mister_Feeny@fedia.io 12 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Ok, but what if instead of stuffing the pierogies with potatoes, they stuffed them with spaghetti?

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This comment will haunt me for the rest of the day.

[–] Mister_Feeny@fedia.io 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Don't lie and say you wouldn't try a pierogi shell stuffed with spaghetti.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 4 points 5 months ago

That's why it's haunting. I would.

Perogis are considered dumplings and are exempt from pasta taxonomy.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 4 points 5 months ago

So ravioli is a dumpling and not pasta?

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 5 points 5 months ago

Keep it spaghetti.

No pasta-shaming.

Strict but fair.

Joined. I cook. I was raised on bad spaghetti and I learned how to make it well (along with other pastas). Then I got bariatric surgery and I really can't eat traditional spaghetti anymore, but I still do from time to time. I think I'd make a valuable, or at the very least interesting addition to your community.

Can I say, in that community, that spaghetti (the pasta type) is not the best pasta type for spaghetti (the dish)? Because it isn't. And I think I could convince someone, not so much across the Internet, but if they sat at my table and ate my spaghetti (the dish). I would not expect them to swear off spaghetti (the pasta), but I would expect them to accept that other pasta shapes have their uses (and, more importantly, to think about which pasta shape to use and for what β€” my personal favorite being penne).

Which government office set this up? And why do it on a Canadian instance? Is the Canadian government claiming spaghetti now, cos that and the shitty pizzas with tropical fruit on are going to tip Italy over the edge inevitably.

[–] SektorC@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 5 months ago

Linguine is the better spaghetti. IMHO.

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 4 points 5 months ago

That looks delicious. I'm hungry now.

I'm surprised that spaghetti has taken off while !pasta@lemmy.world lies dormant. Would you have any interest in taking that one on as well? The current moderator is inactive.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The people need an icon to rally around. Spaghetti stood up to the plate! I would not be opposed to taking on pasta

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The people need an icon to rally around.

True, I suppose that does help.

I would not be opposed to taking on pasta

@kersploosh@lemmy.world, would you be able to transfer !pasta@lemmy.world to @PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca? The current moderator @tomcruise@lemmy.world has been inactive for two years.

[–] kersploosh@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

Sure thing. It's done.

A succulent spaghetti meal. This is gastronomy manifest.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 months ago

Oh hell yes.
