I keep seeing these types of comments implying, in various different ways, that satire is only satire if it's fictional. Satire does not have to be fictional.
(Although this post probably isn't the best place to bring this up, given that this article is largely fiction-based-on-reality rather than straight factual)
The winner's first Twitter post after receiving the prize was "Mr. President Trump I love you. My people yearn for freedom! Please begin bombing Caracas immediately!"
This, a week after a flotilla of baby food was turned back and its participants tortured for days, just off the coast of Gaza.
The Peace Prize is a fucking joke.
The winner's first Twitter post after receiving the prize was "Mr. President Trump I love you. My people yearn for freedom! Please begin bombing Caracas immediately!"
I can appreciate the irony of this being a comment on satire, but if you're not more clear about how you phrase or contextualize it, then even the people who look at where this is being posted will actually think the first half of your comment is true.
Maria Corina Machado, who won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, made her first post on X after the announcement, dedicating the honour to US President Donald Trump and the people of Venezuela. "This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom," she wrote. "We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy." Machado added, "I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!"
I mean, Kissinger got a Nobel Peace Prize, so I wouldn't have been surprised if Trump won.
Considering the ridiculous reality we are living in, I'll be surprised if he doesn't get it.
The fact he was even considered in the running has emptied any admiration I have for Nobel peace prize winners.
Really? I think he should get nominated every year so he gets his hopes up before they are brutally quashed in front of his very eyes. Then he throws a tantrum and he gets brutally mocked.
You know he wants it. He desperately wants it. Obama got one. It makes him seethe with rage that he doesn’t get one.
