Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.” Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

Nobody should be surprised by this. Every Republican I've ever known on this planet says these exact same things when they feel they're safe, every last one.

A highschool friend of mine is of the Republican peruasion, or whatever equavalent my country has. Some weeks ago he was having a game night with his footbal friends. During the night he was sending pictures in our group chat. We could see mount beercan growing in every picture, but it all looked like a fun night so far. Until some point when the picture of the next board game didn't show a board game, but it showed a copy of mein kampf on the table. And he was making inapproriate jokes about it. One of our group is jewish and he took offence. The drunk, republican friend than quickly deleted the picture and appologized. But the damage was done. He had shown his colours.

Mein Kampf itself isn't an issue. I think people should read it so they understand how absolutely stupid fascism and Hitler were.

Holding it in anything other than complete disdain after reading it though, that's a paddlin.

[–] LwL@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

The people that listen to trump speeches and think they're anything other than batshit insane won't find anything wrong with Mein Kampf either. From the parts I've seen it's similarly incoherent, just with better grammar.

Well, there's plenty of people who believe Jordan Peterson's ramblings speak of a superior intellect, so I'm not so sure that would work.

Personally I'm glad the stuff is pretty much illegal where I live.

Why are these libruls so offended lmfao? All I did was praise ethnic genocide

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago

Yeah, I would say "confirm" is more appropriate than "expose" here

It’s always the one you expect

[–] Carmakazi@lemmy.world 69 points 5 months ago

Once again, it is not hyperbole to say that Republicans want to kill you.

Once again, if you are physically and mentally able, you should be arming yourself to the best of your ability for the day when they are emboldened to act out their violent delusions en masse. And that day may come sooner than you think, as it has with every fascist milestone thus far.

"Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked"

Nothing, nothing at all will happen to you.

"apologies":

“While I take complete responsibility, I have had no way of verifying their accuracy and am deeply concerned that the message logs in question may have been deceptively doctored.”

“There is no excuse for the language and tone in messages attributed to me. The language is wrong and hurtful, and I sincerely apologize,”

Still leaving the door open for deniability.

Sad thing is: this doesnt mean shit. They dont even need to feel bad. This is the new normal and every new incident with no consequences normalizes it further.

I have read this story so many times over last few decades, that this party is the moral majority just disgusts me.

Their leader is a guy who just grabs them by the pussy….

If that was the only thing, he is a fucking pedophile and likely was not Epstein client but a partner.

Everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.🔥
I’m ready to watch people burn now
When do we start bullying dude?
Are you going to do whatever it takes?
Boom - they’re dead.❤️
When do we bring that side out?
He also hates the Jews❤️
It was rape
They love the watermelon people💩
And everyone that endorsed but then votes for us is going to the gas chamber.🔥
Also … we are officially under consideration for a Trump endorsement. 😁
I’d go to the zoo if I wanted to watch monkey play ball
Great. I love Hitler😁
Yoooooooo
This girl is fully r------d
Kick the b---h
you're giving nationals to much credit and expecting the Jew to be honest 😆
Stay in the closet f----t
If we ever had a leak of this chat we would be cooked fr fr

Benefit of the doubt asks me to look at this as some form of edginess, but it's all just too bad and obvious.
MAGAts - even the young ones - have only one sense of humor: to demean and insult and hurt others. And that's not funny at all.

"C'mon, we were just fucking around" - nah, that statement alone tells me that you're callous, dumb and ultimately dangerous.

[–] garth@sh.itjust.works 24 points 5 months ago

And it's nothing new. The Young Republicans group at my university were all equally shitty people. The only difference now is that they don't feel the need to be as cautious and guarded.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 5 months ago

Sooooo they moved from 4chan to telegram? Other than that, this isn't news for anyone that's ever interacted with a Republican when they feel comfortable.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 14 points 5 months ago

Yes we know the GOP party is the Nazi party in America.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago

And journalist still won't call the Republicans a racist party.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 months ago

Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.”

Let me guess, he's going to look like a fat loser with daddy money behaving like "her knees are too pointy"?

Checks image

Ding ding ding!

And no, not fat shaming this turd, this is a guy who is well over weight because his daddy gives him everything he wants.

You're barely 20 and you're already bottom of the barrel scum. Impressive.aa

Having said all of this: this fuck yard is the real deal in his wishes; he'd happily see you raped or brutally murdered because you dated to disagree with him

Should this ass-hat ever feel safe again I'm the USA? Or the entire world, for that matter. Left to his own devices I find it hard to believe that he won't directly or indirectly murder someone within the next 5 years. This guy's face should be plastered all over the news and billboards so that people know what he is and how he thinks.

But instead we just screech about having to check genitals when entering a bathroom

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago

Quick! Get them into White House positions STAT

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

Imagine what the old GOP leaders were saying when they were young. Bet you it’s a lot like this.

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

‘Expose’?! BS this is not news they all feel this way

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah, well this is new information for the people who need to hear it

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It really bothers me that Politico doesn't make it clear whether the censoring was present in the chat, or something they added

the members of the chat slung around an array of slurs — which POLITICO is republishing to show how they spoke. Epithets like “f----t,” “retarded” and “n--ga” appeared more than 251 times combined.

Really seems to imply the people in the chat self-censored, and at no point did Politico state they were the ones censoring. The inconsistent censorship also means either the group was self-censoring, or Politico is doing a poor job ("r---d" is censored, but "rape" was repeatedly not censored)

[–] Soapbox@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 months ago

I highly doubt that group was self censoring. It's just inconsistent censorship by politico. "Rape" is not a commonly censored word, like the slurs are. I would have no expectation to see the word "rape" censored, it would be like censoring the word "murder."

Okay.... how about something they can't take off?
