Beam Stoker‘s Dracula (1992)
Vampires
"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires? Is it the overtones of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?"
Feel free to post any vampire-related content here. I'll be posting various vampire media I enjoy just as a way of kickstarting this community but don't let that stop you from posting something else. I just wanted a place to discuss vampire movies, books, games, etc.
🧛
Probably one of the best known movie adaptations. I think I’ve got the DVD flying around somewhere, but must admit I haven’t even watched it yet.
Wynona Rider as Mina was just... horrible...
Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995)
The great Dracula parody by Mel Brooks, featuring Leslie Nielsen as Dracula. An absolute masterpiece which I think I’ll enjoy even more in my next rewatch, after finally reading the book.
That was my first thought of a Dracula movie, it's been so long since I saw it I had to double check it was the movie I thought it was I just remembered it was a comedy. And oh what a comedy with Brooks and Nielson, hard to ask for better Okay time to watch again.
I always liked vampire movies in general though.
Dracula (1931) with Bela Lugosi - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021814/
Sure, it doesn't have Marvel-style special effects(tm) and the characterization isn't that great; in fact the "flying bats" and Lugosi's acting are kinda cringe these days... BUT... it's the standard by which all subsequent movies must be measured.
Nosferatu 2024. I love Eggers work.
Dracula 3000
It must be awesome if it has a big number like 3000 in the title.
I've never actually seen the movie, but the Dracula adaptation with the best soundtrack is undoubtedly the 1979 John Badham adaptation starring Frank Langella. Score by John Williams.
