You went all that way to see the famous tablet, and it's on walkabout. What do they take you for, that they treat with somebody like you with such contempt?
They withheld the tablet from you in enemy territory! It is now up to them to restore it to you in full!

A lot of these museums want to give this stuff back but there’s a law from the government saying they’re not allowed to so they often try to return stuff on loan to get around it. Some of the countries don’t want to do this because they think it might imply they accept British ownership of the items in questions is they refuse it.
I believe that's covered in British Law under the "I Stole it Fair and Square" Act
There's also another side to it where the British museum can hide behind this law even though they wouldn't give it back anyway. "Sry it's against the rules"
