Is there an option to pin a community in my home page so I can just click on it instead of searching for it?

Subscribe to the Community:

...and then you can select your view so you only see your subscribed communities:

As the other reply said, "Subscribe" to that community. Then on the mobile webUI you will find them clicking on the plus next to Subscribed:

On desktop web UI you will find them on the right side beneath the site sidebar (I selected the minus on the lemmy.ca sidebar to hide it):

Ah, this is it! I didn't realize there was another sidebar underneath the Lemmy.ca one. Any way to keep that Lemmy.ca sidebar minimized? Or will I need to do it every time?

I don't think it's possible in the default UI, without using some browser extension or user script.

Have you tried one of our other frontends? They have some nice usability features that you might like, and some of them seem to remember which menus you minimized.

In photon.lemmy.ca:

In blorp.lemmy.ca:

Blorp also has the 'recent' menu, which might be another way to do what you're trying to do

Thanks! I shall give them a try when I'm on my own desktop.

Blorp dev here. I wouldn’t be opposed to pinning communities. Would pinned be its own category under recent? Or maybe above recent?

Maybe a separate category above?

That way users can choose which ones to show or collapse. Some people prefer a minimalist experience, and others might want to see everything at once 😄

Sounds good! I’ll see when I can get this into the app. Probably a few weeks. Website generally gets updated faster
