The audience was misdirected into thinking the shaven-headed child who climbed out of the Pit was Bane rather than Talia, but Bane was also in the Pit -- it's where he sustained his injuries that require the mask and where he met Talia. We don't have enough information to know if he was literally or figuratively "born" there.
