@gabboman@gabboman.xyz AT Protocol (Bluesky's) integration is usually done through Bridgy, and as I get concerned too many people depending on a single service is depending on a single fail point, went to check WAFRN's docs.

https://wafrn.net/faq/user.html 👀

Bluesky Integration

Wafrn has native Bluesky Integration.

Other Fediverse software has to rely on Bridgy to interact with Bluesky. Wafrn's native suppot means that we have major advantages over Bridgy(...)

we do have native bluesky support. my handle is @gabboman.xyz and https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:wvlbhx2c2srslifqzdiyaqpt/post/3m7hrnbz3qc2b

I can’t help but read that name as Warfarin

[–] cristo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Same, I can hear Dr House telling Cameron to give a patient warfarin

Doesn't this also connect to Mastodon?

Also funny how every instance seems to have furry/anime motifs. Nothing wrong with that, I am a big fan of some 80s/90s and early 2000s anime, just thought it's funny. :)

as a wafrn user - it does!

i’d been trying to get into fedi social media for awhile but it wasn’t working. i love wafrn and i use it daily. the members are really friendly and silly too :)

it also connects to misskey, pixelfed, loops, gotosocial… just from the top of my head

Do you know if Wafrn can be used for watch parties / live posting? (I.e. people read & post with a specific hashtag in real time.)

I do that with Mastodon (e.g. #Monsterdon ) but so far others I've tried (e.g. Sharkey) can't do it.

[–] pieland@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

unfortunately, i don’t know! wafrn does have hashtags so i would assume yes, but if sharkey can’t do it then i don’t think i understand what you mean and so i can’t give you a good answer.

@gabboman@gabboman.xyz, the OP of this post, would probably know, as he is the creator of wafrn!

edit: i also just realized he posted here from his wafrn account… i need to figure out how to do that

edit: okay i think i figured out how he did it… fascinating

[–] klu9@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

OK, thanks, I'll ask him.

Mastodon is part of fedi, yes.

[–] infeeeee@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It seems like. This is the main admin account from mastodon: link I can see the same posts directly: https://app.wafrn.net/blog/admin

[–] skribe@piefed.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It receives from Mastodon, but I've yet to have any of my wafrn posts show in Mastodon (or elsewhere on the Fediverse) despite being mutuals.

[–] vivi@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i have a friend who uses it, and it works fine to see their posts.

[–] skribe@piefed.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks, looking into it.

Wafrn?
Can we admit that the Fediverse has a serious naming problem?

[–] Naho_Zako@piefed.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago

It's based off a joke about Tumblr banning porn and nudity. We Allow Female-presenting Nipples. It makes it memorable and instantly loveable to me, and I think most of the people who lived through the Tumblr porn exodus to Twitter would chuckle.

Last I recalled reading about it, it's "we allow female representing nipples".

Oh I see, so it should be WAFPN

[–] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Doesn't sound as good imo.
