Bit late to the party, saw this recommended on my YT feed for a bit. Finally burned through em over the past couple days.

If you're looking for a laugh and familiar with the franchise, this'll poke fun at the tropes and then some.

Seems weird to parody 40k. Like I know some people engage with it with no awareness of the existing satire but it's kind of strange that represents enough people that this series lands.

Because it changed over time, and now enough of the fanbase engage with it non-satirically.

That is because a large chunk of the fan base think that they would be Space Marines and not some shmuck living a shitty life in a hive city. I listened to an audio book of a guy who was not a criminal being turned into a servitor and he woke up at the start and was trying to tell them her was there for a routine procedure. He was just some low level bureaucrat or something. He was begging them to please stop and check his file and they just kept going removing parts and saved his mind for last. It was fucking horrible. That is what is like to be a human in that universe.

Which begs the question, how long before people stop realizing the Space King is satire? Probably around episode 2.

It gets better with each episode.

A hyperviolent parody of a hyperviolent satire. I love it.

Is that because If the Emperor had a Text to Speech isn't satire, but 94% canon?

Love it. Kinda wish they didn't feel the need to drop the R word but whatever.

I think it's part of the angst but my ex had a big issue with it and it kind of... osmosis'd into me as a result despite it not really being an issue to me personally. (It was part of my lingo that I had to eschew around her because, well, I respected and loved her.)

I do notice it every time they say it though as a result. I just have weirdly mixed feelings around it. (I care and I don't!?)

It really doesn't help my image of the creators that a video of theirs that I watched went on and on about "GAYmes workshop".

There's a lot of good parody comedy in space king but it feels unnecessarily juvenile to use the word.

Praise be to Space King.
