They're so good if cooked well. Roasted with garlic and olive oil

I made the mistake of doing this at a family supper (they normally steamed them), and ended up on sprouts cooking duty for the rest of my foreseeable future lol.

Balsamic vinegar is an amazing addition as well.

I never minded them as a kid but they weren't the best. The newer varities are quite nice. Love them roasted or broiled!

We've been deep-frying them with pumpkin seeds. Add dried cranberries, goat cheese, and a vinaigrette... I am drooling just typing this

Goat cheese makes almost everything better!

No, I do not hate them - quite the opposite. Pliny the Elder knew what was up, BRASICA CULT FOR LIFE.

Ahh, I thought my tastebuds just got dull with age!

Don't burst my bubble now!

And it still tastes fucking awful. Yes, I've had them roasted, yes from great kitchens.

No, they're not tasty.

"No, these are less shitty."

They're still shitty, just less.

As I understand, there's some genetic invariant, which makes them taste like literal shit to some folks. I think, the same is then true for broccoli and presumably other brassica cultivars...

[–] SouthFresh@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I love broccoli.

Brussels sprouts are garbage.

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Hmm, well, no idea then. Maybe you do just not like the taste then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm in this club too. brussel sprouts are the only ones that just taste awful to me and I can eat any other brassica

Ah, I was wondering if my wife had an account on here. Hi honey!

I've only ever had the modern version. Not really a fan. I suspect I would've preferred the more bitter variety.

Nope, still taste like farts
