Just boycott the whole of Microsoft. For a million reasons.

[–] BoycottTwitter@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Switching from Office 365 to Libreoffice could be an easy boycott for some people and it would make a huge dent if done at a large enough scale.

Microsoft is boycotting Xbox at this point

[–] Peffse@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

No joke! I see nothing on shelves to resist purchasing.

I always boycotted Xbox. I never could understand why anyone would a tually want more Microsoft in their lives.

Microsoft didn't used to be complete shit.

I remember discovering that XP had a secret hidden file that kept all your email/browser History. That was like 2002, I haven't trusted MS since then.

I used to be really into their hardware and peripherals. They used to make awesome input devices.

When? From at least XP on they were completely shit. Certainly anti consumer.

But I would easily entertain the idea that they were always crap.

Edit: bill gates pulled code out of the trash to learn from it. Then went on to try and stop others from learning code.

I could go on.

How anyone is defending microsoft is beyond me.

Someone can answer that? Can't look video currently.

The title of the video now is "It's Working! The Fight Back Against Microsoft's War Profiteering."

The video is by "People Make Games," and it is a fundraiser for "The Palestine Children's Relief Fund."

They explain that the Israeli military did a deal with Microsoft to use their datacenters to store the audio of all phone calls made by Palestinians. This call data was then used by Israeli intelligence to target people.

Microsoft have since cancelled the deal and blocked the Israeli military access to the data, but only after The Guardian published the details of the mass surveillance project and it led to protests and boycotts of Microsoft.

This video is loosely a follow-up to a previous video that People Make Games did 2 years ago called, "The Games Industry Must Not Stay Silent on Palestine" and speaks to campaigners and games developers about their boycott of Microsoft services, including Xbox, as a way to put pressure on Microsoft to stop dealing with the Israeli government completely.

At the end of the video they encourage viewers to make a pledge to commit to the Microsoft boycott, and secondly to donate to the non-profit Palestinian children's charity that they are fundraising for.

People still bought Xbox?

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Haven't had an Xbox since my 360 red ringed, so I'm in.

[–] xeekei@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Never owned an Xbox, but I do have like 1000 hours in Halo MCC on Steam. 🤷🏻‍♂️

My favourite thing to do is to get Xbox hardware for cheap, then use them in ways which daddy MS doesn’t want.

Like the Xbone, plays all the AC games (that matter) is really cheap. Just keep it offline and boom the system is usable. It’s not like it’s getting any new games.

[–] MotorbreathX@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 months ago

Nah, I'm good. I enjoy Xbox games.

This won't reach the people that buy Xbox products but it'll reach those who already "boycott" Xbox because those people know that Xbox doesn't provide anything special.

[–] ClobberBobble48@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

It stopped me from buying any Xbox games in the Steam Winter Sale, so there's that.
