Shocking.

The redactions are kind of proof, though.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Any redaction has to have an explanation according to the act, people just need to submit foias for the reason for the redaction.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 days ago (3 children)

The reason is 'because secret'

You wanna see what's in this shit? You gotta do it like the Kremlin papers.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Maybe. But if they get 10 or 100k requests it isn't dying and if they claim secrecy they have to present their reasoning in as closed session to Congress.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's adorable. I love that for you.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well that's a weird thing to say.

You and me, that's kinda how government works homie. Have a look at how the French do things and get used to several years of that if not worse.

Cool, my aim is terrible and I'm pretty slow on foot. We're prolly gon' need a third.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Or a forceful counter coup.

... just sayin'.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Lol, you think the dems are any different?

Nah. We're not getting their documentation of the truth until all the oligarchs and their pets get what they deserve.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, not in the ways that matter, they are not different.

Hence the counter coup.

I'm not talking about a Dem led counter coup, I find that extraordinarily unlikely.

I'm talking about removing the treasonous, lying, thieving, evil bastards, by force.

Doesn't really matter to me who or what actually constitutes that force.

Because at that point, it will be clear to nearly everyone, that the entire rotten, demented structure is as arbitrary as it has, in actuality, always been.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 27 points 6 days ago (18 children)

Doesn't matter if they showed explicit images of Trump penetrating children. No legal consequences would be done to him anyway. Anyone with the power to resist this administration has already had all the pretext they need to do so and they have not. So either no one has that power, or they're too gutless to use it. We are fucked.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

When the law fails... what is left?

Cowards?

Or those with convinction?

... Have we all forgotten how this country was founded?

Well the best (seem to) lack all conviction.

Can't imagine why.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Yes, there wasn't going to be a legal consequence for him, but he's really old and he'll probably die soon anyway. But that doesn't mean that we're all fucked, because the Epstein files destroyed MAGA. At the beginning of this year it felt like everything was going to be horrible and many things that are bad have continued to happen. But quite obviously, MAGA has lost almost all of their power. Why? Because of this. Because even MAGA supporters can recognize that it's not okay to be giant pedophiles. Trump turned into a lame duck president after six months. And that's amazing.

Of course, who knows what the future will bring because of the Supreme Court and politics is unpredictable. But at least right now, there are some positive signs.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

But quite obviously, MAGA has lost almost all of their power.

That's a wild statement to make. Everything they set in motion is still going strong. Nothing has gotten better. People are still being abducted off the streets, women are still being persecuted for exercising their reproductive rights, prices are still skyrocketing, all of our allies and trade partners are still cutting us out. A bunch of his shortsighted dumbfuck supporters might be temporarily pissed off but by the time the next election rolls around they'll fall back in line. They're not going to stop hating immigrants, women, and trans people just because more evidence that their dickhead leader was a pedophile came out. We already knew that anyway.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

There's the real possibility of fracturing once Trump either dies or somehow actually sees social consequences from his years of child sex trafficking. I'd say the death is more likely, and maybe it won't be far off.

The two main factions of MAGA as I see it are the MTG types that are rabid fascist bigots opposed to pedophilia, and the institutional types that are rabid fascist bigoted pedophiles and pedophile supporters. It would be fun to see them destroy each other, sooner rather than later.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 5 days ago

They won't destroy each other. They'll unite on their common bigotry and let the other stuff slide as they've always done.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

he’ll probably die soon anyway

I hope not. I hope he lives to be well over 100 years old. In a hole at Rikers, with a suit the same color as his face.

We all know why

The entire world knows why

I see a red page and I want it painted black...

No details anymore: I want them to turn black...

I see the girls go by, dressed in their summer clothes.

I have to █████ my █████, untill my ██████████ █████!

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You turned it white, though.
Not black:P

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Ah. I defaulted to ascii blocks, which usually are black... well, at least they were, before the internet discovered the concept of dark mode.

Kids these days and their newfangled emojis...

Here, uh...

I 👀 a 🟥 📄 and I want it [🪣-🖌️] ⬛.

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

The fun part is that ⬛ is still lighter than the background (which is #000) for me.

before the internet discovered the concept of dark mode

"usually", because they would also be green, red, orange, purple, pink and a whole lot of other colours, before the web became all classy.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

before the web became all classy.

You have a weird way of saying 'boring, sterile, and corporate.'

=P

Except that I kinda prefer a simpler website than the multicolour messes that I see from those times.
I am guessing it would have started with people using it normally in a few areas, for emphasis and then ballooned up to the kind of mess similar to the kind of syntax highlighting this article was talking about.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

There are ways to use subtle and subdued color palettes that are more interesting visually than typical modern style guides, don't break built in hyperlink color defaults, while also not being as... high contrast, high intensity, as many 90s sites.

We have just had stylistic stagnation for a good deal of time now.

EDIT: Some examples:

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

That looks nice.

I feel like a designer needs to first articulate the intent of the colour usage, before deciding on it.
Because in some places, you want a higher contrast, while in others, you just want a separate colour, without stuff popping out too much. Then there is also the case of less contrasting colours popping out more, because they were used in a larger area than they were chosen for and same the other way round, when you choose a lower contrasting colour combination due to the both colour areas being large enough, like window background vs document background, but then if you end up using the combination for something like text, it becomes hard to read.

So for instance, using the "Tower of Glass" example, one can use the last 2 colour for things like:

  • window background vs button/field background
  • button normal vs button hover
  • background vs alt background (though in this case, I would be looking for even lower contrasting colours

... but not for cases like:

  • background vs text
  • background vs border

While you could still also use it for text vs alt-text.

... I completely agree, it seems you understand UI/UX design principles very well!

So... yeah, its entirely possible to have a more varied and more artful internet, that is also not garrish, and broadly functional, if one takes care to account for details as you've outlined.

That just... isn't the path we largely went down.

But uh, neocities is a thing, they're trying to bring back the old spirit of much more lightweight, much more personal and customized websites that the old net had.

https://neocities.org/

Look at their example showcases!

The sites themselves are art.

EDIT:

Though it might be a good idea if they attempted to also offer a basic formatting standard for mobile sites.

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago

it seems you understand UI/UX design principles very well

Just one of those things that you just get, but haven't studied, so may not have the required words for.
I mostly think in terms of usability, convenience and utility from my experience in using GUI software and websites, with no manifest-able artistic inclination.

https://neocities.org/

Looks kinda nice.
There are still quite a few interesting websites I have seen even without it. They are just rare and require someone to put some amount of obsession into it. So either way, I won't expect normal companies to end up with art, even if the tech part of it has been made easier.
I mean, I could develop a site like that without neocities, but I won't be designing one as such. And my site can already take care of a wide variety of page sizes.

They are not released yet.

Every reaction is the word Trump, keep it going.

Noncin' around the Christmas tree

At the Epstein party hop

Censored everywhere you can see

Every pedo just can't stop.

You will get a sentimental feeling

When you hear

Pedos singing "Don't be silly,

Deck the halls with boughs of holly!"

Noncin' around the Christmas tree

Have a creepy holiday

Pedos dancing creepily

In the new old-fashioned way
