Low-Spec Gaming

Welcome to the community for those of us gaming on "humble" hardware. Whether you’re rocking a 10-year-old ThinkPad, a budget laptop with integrated graphics, or you’re just a fan of modern games that can run on a toaster, you’re home.

We’re all about finding those hidden gems that run on anything, sharing optimization tweaks to squeeze out an extra 5 FPS, and proving that you don't need a $3,000 rig to have a good time. If it runs at 720p/30fps, it’s a win in our book.

Community Rules

Don’t be a hardware snob. We’re here because we aren't chasing the "Ultra" settings. Mocking someone for their specs or telling them to "just buy a new PC" is the easiest way to get banned. Be cool.

Post your specs when asking for help. If you’re asking "Can I run this?", please include your CPU, RAM, and GPU (or integrated chip). We’re nerds, but we aren't psychics.

No Piracy. Don't post links to ROM sites, "cracked" games, or repacks. We want to keep this community safe and visible on the Fediverse without getting the admins in trouble.

Keep it relevant to low-spec life. General gaming news is fine, but we prioritize posts about optimization mods, low-spec benchmarks, and "Potato-friendly" game recommendations.

No low-effort self-promo. Don’t just drop a link to your Twitch or YouTube channel. If you made a video specifically about how to run a certain game on old hardware, that's fine—just engage with the comments and be part of the conversation.

My Xbox Series S is my low spec gaming system :) dreadful frame rates and embarrassing graphics combined.

A friend recently gave me his old computer which was high spec six years ago and it only runs Windows 10 or Linux. I haven't even plugged it in yet but I'm sure it'll be fun for Spring RTS and 0 A.D.

i run a few systems because i solve every problem i can with an x86 linux system

My favorite HTPC is a custom quiet build i assembled with a 5700G because performance is comparable to a Steam Deck, and I run Bazzite on there.

I think I beat most of you. I use a 10-year-old office-grade SFF PC that I bought for less than 200€. It's running Mint 22.2

Damn, you’re an inspiration!

I have several of these!

Not my lowest or highest spec machines though, right around the middle. 6the, 7th, and a few 8th gens.

A 6th gen is my htpc/emulation station for the TV though. Currently sitting under my desk as I rework it to add some stuff for my kids though.

The newest and most powerful machine I own is by far my Steam Deck.

People from 2005-2013 would’ve been amazed with that thing.

2020 Acer gaming laptop

TB Storage SSD,

Steam Deck / R5 2400G APU with 16GB RAM.

Have a reserve R5 3600 for if I buy a GPU, but I don't currently do stuff that need one.

Is there an app that shows system specs on Android?

Because I have no idea.

Isint it usually built into the phone like under some setting or something? i would look up a guide, especially if you know the brand or model of the phone.

I guess I can just look up the phone in gsm arena. But it says there are a range of possible values.

I found this on FDroid: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.kgurgul.cpuinfo

It says I have 8 cores of arm64-v8a. It looks like the lowest has a max of 2.2 GHz and the highest goes to 3.4 GHz . Lots of 32 kb L1 caches and a 2mb L2. SoC name unknown.

Qualcomm GPU Adreno 750 (?)

Total Memory: 12 GB (more than my desktop lol...)

I'm pretty sure my phone is more powerful than my desktop.

I have a I5-5300u 4 core 2,90GHz laptop Intel hd5500 with 16gb ram and 480gb msata

[–] Hjalamanger@feddit.nu 2 points 2 days ago

Intel Core i5-6300U vPro @ 2,4 GHz
8 GB ram
500 GB storage space
Fedora sway atomic and windows 10

This is an HP elitbook 840 G3 from 2016. I also have a 2012 office desktop computer, but it's generally worse for gaming in my experience
