For the last couple months all my free time has been spent working on migrating our instance since our host was shutting down. The instance relocation is finally over with so I've been able to get back to posting some while we're settling in.

!weedtime@crazypeople.online continues to see slow steady growth and more people posting. While it's still mostly memes, there's been some new and familiar faces posting content that's more original and on topic while I've been busy elsewhere which is awesome.

!eternalplaylist@crazypeople.online has been as busy as ever lately with all sorts of music being posted by multiple people. The idea here is simple - post the music you like for others to enjoy - and I'm happy to see more and more people finding our community and sharing what they love.

!pokemonTCGM@crazypeople.online has seen a rush of new content since the latest booster release. People really seem to be enjoying the current state of the game and the card art that's featured in Crimson Blaze. We also added a new mod there recently, and there are some ideas in the works that should lead to more regular posting. It's a fun space!

!loweffortmemes@crazypeople.online hasn't seen much action since we migrated, but that one has always been hot in flashes when the mood to be silly strikes.

As an instance, things are finally getting back to normal now that the move is behind us. New user registration is enabled again as is community creation, and some of our members have already launched some interesting new communities. We also rolled out the front ends we had deployed at the old host, along with a couple more that weren't possible with that environment. CPO now offers Alexandrite, MLMYM, Photon, and Voyager alongside the default Lemmy UI.

we're back

Well done with the migration ! Who did you move to?

Well done with the migration !

Thank you. 💚
More than anything I just wanted to do right by our users. Everything went smoothly but there were plenty of high stress testing sessions that I'm happy to be done with.

Who did you move to?

Hetzner, on dedicated hardware.

When KNT announced they were going out of business I was determined to turn it into something positive for our community. There were a few options for migration to other managed hosts, but that came with no guarantees of a smooth transition or the type of experience our users are accustomed to. Instead of crossing my fingers with another managed host, I turned my focus to finding a dedicated server. After a marathon of testing and learning over a couple months, I found a server and a host that I believe can be our "forever" home.

Now we control our own destiny. That's opened up all sorts of new opportunities for us that simply weren't possible with KNT. Some of that can already be seen, like the additional frontends we're able to offer now that couldn't be done within the KNT infrastructure.

We also have plenty of headroom to continue to grow and evolve.

PieFed is something that I spent a fair bit of time testing as a replacement for Lemmy if our members were interested because I wasn't sure where we were going to land at that point. Obviously we've opted to continue as a Lemmy instance, but now we have the hardware to run them both, or anything else we want, whenever the time is right.

The future looks very bright.

Fun but slowish. I get subscribers but I'm the main (only) poster. My fault for making one very niche and poorly defined community and two news coms in a saturated market.

!Art_Alchemist_Guild@lemmy.today is still super new but gets comment action, which is a good sign

!Independent_Media@lemmy.today only posts from independent news sources. I get traction but I'm the only poster. But! It's the most-visited community on .Today, which is awesome.

I made !wildfeed@sh.itjust.works to get around the rules on other news communities about article topics, quality, blogs etc. Trash is as welcome as sophisticated journalism. It gets occasional action and subscribers, but I'm contributing 99% of the posts.

I don't mind much, since reading the news is part of my job so I can just post stuff I'm going through anyway. Art is a daily activity for me, too.

I posted my first "discussion meme" on !vampires@lemmy.zip:

https://piefed.social/post/1595172

it was kinda time-consuming to make, but lots of fun! And people seem to be interacting with it.
