I really truly think organizing mutual aid within your community is one of the most impactful things we can do right now. Agitation and education are deeply important to our movement but they must be done in conjunction with material assistance to those who need it most. The people must see that our convictions are not just rhetoric, we must be there for them when the state has failed them and this cannot be limited to just comrades.

In general I agree. Mutual aid must be accompanied by propaganda efforts. We need to get more people on our side. Loosening the grip of empire on the rest of the world and helping develop the rest of the world so it can stand up to the US might make more sense for certain individuals, as false consciousness and enemy propaganda are strong here. Keep a closed hand and do your best to build up and work towards creating a revolutionary situation along with the organizations that can make use of it.
Thanks for the message comrade, but that username 🤣🤣🤣
I am honestly just glad it brings people joy :D I keep it specifically for this reason
There are always two answers to this question: one for organizations, and another for individuals.
For organizations, the answer is that you should be increasing your organizational capacity so you can do all of those things. Educational events, networking events, protests, meetings; coalitions with establishment forces (unions, libs), coalitions with Socialist orgs (Anarchists, DSA). You have to hit every aspect of society so that, even if one approach isn't working today, you've developed your cadre's skills and presence so that when it becomes necessary tomorrow you have the ability to act.
For individuals? Be a part of your communities. Go to church, go to City Council, hang out at the bar. But the number 1 rule is: Be Normal. But do not shy away from your politics.
Try to join an organization. I'm in the PSL and can vouch for them. I have also worked with RCA and the DSA locally and they are both very good, especially if your local DSA is MUG or Redstar dominated. The important thing is that you're organized, not who you're organized under. Join a fucking Indivisible branch if that's the only thing going on near you.
This comrade gets it.
The collapse of the american empire is already beginning so now is the most effective time to be agitating. In the age of McCarthyism the attempts at educating were only keeping the candle burning, the collapse of the empire is dumping fuel everywhere.
From outside looking in, union organising, mutual aid organising among immigrants and marginalized peoples, self-defence training and mobilising against wars. All of these should be done with a communist programme as a unifying factor (and parties really need to focus on better divulging theory in the age of Hasan).
All of those should preferably be done with a communist party guiding and supporting the efforts. Yes, even if the party has an incorrect line, that's the whole point of scientific socialism and democratic centralism. If you're that convinced of your positions, defend them internally until you win or get expelled.
Asking advice on the internet is a good first step, but you'll only ever know what to actually do by getting organised, with your organisation setting the priorities. Communist action requires communist organisation.
If you're that convinced of your positions, defend them internally until you win or get expelled.
Thats an interesting and refreshibgly honest take. Most people dont do much irl i have to assume so they dont have experience to understand that there is no perfect world. Most is pure theory from the ivory tower and hence nobody knows that you dont have the luxury to seek an org forever.
Example: currently i'm in a small party of which the local branch is destroyed pretty much. There are like 3 people and a dog (joking). The other place is said to be a fed op and all others are trotskites.
I fought in the bourgois left but they started suing their members if they went too far away from the government line so I left. The small group is really slow in doing stuff but I'll do my best. Lets see. Being the stubborn asshole that i am i might actually get stuff done. :)
we don't have another century, climate change puts us on a time limit
we have already passed multiple points of no return and are accelerating towards the next
if we take too long we will win a dying world
I spend so much time thinking about this. I don’t feel I have much to add, so many good answers. But something I’ve been thinking about recently… I know it’s cliche to quote Sun Tzu and this advice does seem trite, but I think it’s also deep:
Do not do what your opponent wants you to do.
What is it that the bourgeoisie do not want us to do? I’m trying to answer that myself. I try to think of our world like a board game, and I’m the capitalist player. What don’t I want those commies to be do doing? Well I wouldn’t be afraid of armed insurrection. But I would be afraid of a slowly building and growing class consciousness. So I think developing that is what we should be doing with our time. I know that’s a vague answer, but again I think the comrades in this thread have already filled in the details well.
