Beach time this morning was utterly glorious! The water was perfect and so beautiful. Pity about the tiny dicks on jet skis.

omg I hate the noisy engine people so much.

I don't like when they are at swimming beaches, at boat beaches is fine.

I think people can all enjoy in their own way as long as they don't hurt or disturb others.

Stripped the last banister, and destroyed my hands despite wearing gloves for 95% of the time. Maybe now we can get the bloody stairs finished and take down all the wall masking

Yyyeessss.....NYE late night party plans have changed due to small kids needing sleep. So a couple of us will go out for early drinks then I will pack them home by 9/10ish. Sweet

Someone had a numberplate that said "Victoria: The Pothole State".

Also overheard someone at the beach say Melbourne is like Sydney's uglier sister (they said Melbourne was a 2/10), but it made up for its looks with its personality. Interesting.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cannot agree if the are talking central CBD type areas. Sydney is so claustrophobic and grey.

[–] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I like our CBD better than Sydney's but they have nicer beaches imo

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fair enough. I tend to not beach given a tendency to turn into a lobster in 5 minutes sun time.

Same :( got sunburnt on my hand yesterday

Gotta agree with the pothole comment; around here I see the same bad bits of roads getting bodgy patchups year after year. Same near work. Colleagues of mine who live in different areas say the same thing of their suburbs. Honest question, why are we so bad at fixing roads now? Did something change? πŸ€”

Edit: I used Google to answer my own question like a grown up

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Only caring about looks, such a Sydney attitude.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Have they actually spent time here?

even the worst places have some beautiful parks and open spaces

I decided to clean the house as though someone was going to move in.

Yeah..... There's a lot to do.

I shared my turkey dinner with Bill Cat. He loved it and is in turkey food coma now. 😸.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My GFs cat went bonkers for left over turkey. I'm glad my dog isn't that pushy.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Bill didn't ask at all, he never asks for the food I'm having. I gave him some.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Turkey is said to contain a chemical that aids sleep, so snooze away Bill cat.

The girlfriend is spending today cleaning the house. I'm helping but I'd rather not spend one of my days off without the kids doing housework, especially when we have someone at home that could be doing this cleaning all year round

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah nah. You do the cleaning after. πŸ˜‰

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The kids are in care because they're having a messy day today. I asked what she wanted to do and the response was pretty much go straight home, spend all day cleaning, then we can go pick up the kids who will just make a mess again.

I'd rather not spend all day cleaning when her mother lives with us and spends all her time at home when the kids are not around on her iPad in front of the TV

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have no nice response to this. Rant away.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Direct confrontation is the way to go.

Unless she is completely physically disabled there are things she can do.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

What I meant was I wasn't gonna rub salt into tombruzzo's wound.

If I was in that situation I wouldn't be able to hold back.

No specialist appointments available until February so the January procedure might be off 😒 I’ve asked to go on the cancellation list

Edit: Got her in with another specialist and waiting on confirmation of a lift

So got a message from my best friend in high school. We haven't spoken in years after a bit of a falling out, and then it just fizzled. It's been so long since I've spoken to her that I've kind of forgotten what we had fought about. We were super co-dependent on each other, but I think now we would have both done the work because she's on the way to becoming a psychologist. Intrigued

Nothing better than a shirtless hot man doing the vacuuming. πŸ”₯

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How about a shirtless man in arseless chaps vacuuming the hard to reach places?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago

I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!!!

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 3 days ago

Beach done..last of Christmas icecream consumed for breakfast. Afternoon is haircut and car wash.

Also I appear to have been co-opted into a social new year's eve with the out of town family. No CBD or crowds but still I do very much like my NYE tradition of quietly going to bed early then early morning beach. It's nice to have family here...but...feeling a bit conflicted.

Put on a new fitness watch yesterday afternoon and it told me that today was a stressful day (went paddle boarding and grocery shopping). I can't wait to see how it handles me being back at work.

The order: Moving mulch -> gerni the ground -> beach -> get semi naked -> flex my midnight snack beach bod -> sunburn -> have regrets.

So begins week 2 of 3 of my annual leave.

Let's see what levels of sloth I can get up to this week.

Wish I didn't keep waking up at 6:30am though :(

TV Review.

Cousin asked me to sit with her and watch Bookish, a newish BBC period detective series

watching I was, "Gees, that's just like all the places I used to hang out in Brussels ". Well, I looked it up, it was filmed in those places, lol.

Actually, I don't like this series, I think it's structure is confusing. There is no one to be the eyes and ears for the audience. Mystery is nice, don't get me wrong, but in a detective show the mystery is the crime. Introduce us to the characters and then if the main character is meant to be a mystery too then let another character learn about them.

also, the crime mystery is very very easy to figure ( tho not for cousin )

This is written by Gattis, maybe he's just messing about with new things πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

2 hobbits because maybe I missed the point

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

so thinking, the mystery is "who is Book and his wife and why are they doing what they do" rather than the crimes

still, I think they messed up the POV

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

I have done heaps today.

Have a new list for tomorrow. 😸

good night everyone, sweet dreams 😽

spoiler Pluribus tv showI watched Pluribus. It’s an interesting premise. I liked it but also found it frustrating. Mainly because the main protagonist is dumb and self absorbed, probably as a plot device to keep the mystery mysterious. Any semi normal person would have asked a lot more questions about the situation. Also didn’t like that too much was left unanswered at the end of the show. I get that they need to leave plot lines open for a season 2, but basically nothing was resolved. 3/5.___

Office works trip today - have somehow missed getting me a real paper calendar that I can write on. And I don't want fancy photos or glossy paper, just a plain month by month one. Grrr.
