I think the last Marvel movie I saw in theaters was Black Panther. Definitely watching Dune over Avengers, and only in IMAX.

Ooh, I should absolutely go see it in IMAX—you're so right

Dune 2 was awesome in IMAX

I wanna say Avengers 2 or thor whichever came out later. I got bored then, and they just keep coming.

I see every Marvel movie in the theater, and if the choice is Avengers or Dune...

Long live the fighters!

Isn't the third book where dune kinda goes off the rails?

Villeneuve has said he is only going to make Dune and Dune Messiah as films.

Dune is what has been done so far (parts 1 and 2)

Dune Messiah explores the aftermath of Paul Atreides supplanting the Emperor after the events of Dune.

Children of Dune gets weird

God Emperor of Dune is batshit. Leto's kid is a 30000yo sandworm who talks to at least 5 characters about how he doesn't have a dick

Heretics is where the bene gesserit are now just space dominatrixes because frank herbert's mind had been fried by acid & coke and he was REALLY horny

Chapterhouse has live dogs that have been genetically engineered to be chairs called chairdogs

So like I said. Off the rails.

Nah. Children is not fully off the rails. Just getting weird. God emperor is off the rails. Then heritics is fully derailed. And chapterhouse is off the rails 100 miles out in the desert high on mescaline

Third book things start to get real interesting! But yeah, like someone replied, Dune Part 3 is based on the Second Book, Dune Messiah

I honestly don't know how they gonna cast Ghanima and Leto II for a movie on the sequels, i really hope they skip, at least some parts from the Children of Dune

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Given that they skipped Pauls sister in Parts 1 and 2, it would provably happen something similar.

My biggest concern is that Dennis said he would only direct until Dune Messiah, not more. Don't know the reasons but i suspect the fact that it gets much crazier its the reason

I didn't watched the movies, they really skipped Alia ? Well, thinking better, it makes sense, but who killed the baron Harkonnen on the movie ?

[–] thanatotus@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

Yup, she is not in the movie.

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

SpoilerPaul kills him, knife to the neck. Alia appears only in one vision from Paul, already a woman

[–] tio_bira@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Thanks, it's pretty much like she kills him on the book

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, I know.

I've read all 6 books, loved all of them.

I first saw the first and second parts and then read the books, really happy I did. I really enjoyed the movies, they are a cinematic treat to the senses. Storywise I prefer the books by a long shot.

[–] SketchySeaBeast@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah, but I imagine this will be an adaptation of Dune Messiah.

how many times can the same group of people talk about then save the “world” before it gets boring
