The dooming content cycle is relentless is it not? I remember when iOS 26 came out, when people were excited about the windowing, some iPad users were lamenting that slide over was Gina and that was a better way to multitask. Now it came back, with the windowing added. But of course that’s not enough. Merits of the iPad as a laptop replacement argument aside, I had already predicted this reaction outcome, everything is subject to dooming these days and no one should be happy.

Apple clickbait doomerism videos are lucrative somehow lol.

Remember when windows phone was the iPhone killer?

[–] Horsey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

People only thought that because of PC windows. I saw windows phone for the first time and thought it was the worst UI design I’ve ever seen.

Who’s Gina?

Well, I think this is more of as symptom , that apple doesn’t have a good idea for the IPad UI. When you start an iPad, you are asked to select one of three different window managers. That’s a total failure to design a good user interface. None of the three options is particularly great.

I don’t think it’s doomer to point out the iPad has great hardware but is limited severely by the software after being on the market for 15 years. Compare to the kind of change we have seen on other OS in the past, it’s embarrassing.

There’s no vision behind this, only inertia.

He’s been complaining about the software on the iPad for years now.

It’s been mediocre for years. I try again every year to use it for more serious work and run into limitations pretty quickly.
