Bought a pool and gazebo shade tent thingy for the backyard. Pool was very cheap so I thought it'd be smallish. It's actually reasonably large and will be used extensively over the next few days and weeks. The kids love it! ๐Ÿ˜ It's a W for mum.

We have a temporary pool we've put up the last few years. Its a great way to cool off, even though its painful to put up at first. We use a chlorine floater thing but when it gets too gritty I just drain it onto the gardens and start again.

I have completed the second batch of apricot jam, which has surpassed the first. This is beyond mere food. I have become one with the apricot.

I wanted a nice meal at my favourite Vietnamese restaurant before the big hot but they're still closed. How dare they have a holiday when I'm so hungry.

I used to take Panadol with coffee before lying down in the dark. Idea is for the caffeine to shrink the blood vessels back down and shorten the duration

If you havenโ€™t seen it, consider sorting your lemmy posts by โ€œScaledโ€ as it helps smaller communities get into your feed.

Goodnight all. May you sleep as well as this cat does most of the day โค๏ธ

Goodnight

Silly dreamsHad an insane dream last night that kept sort of going on between waking up and going back to sleep. The world was sort of split into two and everyone went to either a good place or a bad place โ€“ not like the show though. This was either a desolate planet orโ€ฆ a desolate planet, but with portals to other worlds.

I thought I was in the bad place, but I somehow managed to open a portal to another dimension, in which I found myself working at a wog supermarket and I had magic powers that we were exploring.

I am feeling very, very tired this morning! Yet, I'm back at my desk and... ??? let's get it done, I guess.

The bin trucks sound like a herd of upset elephants

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Have you looked outside to make sure it's not? I think elephants would be very suited to a bin collection job.

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I must confess I have not. Our new Mayor seems innovative, so it's certainly possible.

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 8 points 2 months ago

Cheers to all the back to work people today. May our inboxes be quiet and may it be quiet enough to keep one eye on the cricket.

Apricot crumble is a lunch food, right?

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

I see no problem. There's fruit, grains and dairy.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

yes, it's healthful food

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Yes, itโ€™s healthy and balanced.

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago

Ugh. Barely slept due to stuffy nose and feeling sick. Todayโ€™s activities are long shower to feel a bit human, trip to chemist for supplies, then couch.

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Dick back to the grindstone today. As much as I'm interested to check some analytics and try new things, I'd still rather be at home

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

I've already ground mine down to a tiny nub

The black cat is chillaxing in my yard. Friend, if my own cat wasnโ€™t so stressed by you youโ€™d be risking getting catnapped.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

Anyone else know the water temp in the shower has warmed up enough to get in, just by the sound?

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yep. And I realised I hadn't boiled the kettle yesterday by the sound it made when I pour it

That one is impressive!

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 2 months ago

Stood in my bathroom for a moment and went "does the water sound like the right temp?" this morning and knew it wasn't. Thanks for making me conscious of this! ๐Ÿ˜†

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

I rode over the hill to and from work today. It may not be faster but it's a much nicer ride. I just need to find a good transition point between two tracks and I'm set

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

nom, strawbs

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

time to go router bit shopping, anyone know if techsmart are any good? I just need a flush trim for now, but eyeing off their 1/4 shank sets......

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I finally got the dwarf lime tree I was looking for in Spring (Bunnings only had dead ones in stock) at a reasonable price, and from a local nursery. Now I just have to keep it alive through the summer heat so I can concentrate on keeping it alive through the winter frosts.

I also got a sprinkler and tap timer so I can give the garden a good soak before this heat wave, and spend less time holding a hose in the future.

How is it warmer inside the house than outside

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 2 months ago

Poorly insulated Australian houses

Clear skies lose heat fast.
