I'm not using Proton Pass, but why is the username field called e-mail instead of just username? Not all services use your email address as your username.

There is a plus button where you can shift it down and have a separate username field

You can choose to add username and/or email. You can store both in the one entry. When you would add a username, it would be added to that context window.

In KeepassXC we have been able to right click copy user names and passwords for a while.
