Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
  • 5. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language/язык/Sprache
  • This is primarily an English-speaking community. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  • Comments written in other languages are allowed.
  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.
  • Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
  • We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed.

Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.

It's gotta be weird being anti woke and pro Linux. Like if you can show tolerance and compassion for gnome users you should be able to extend that to anyone

IDK, there's a big cross section between tech-freedom and people with Nazi-style ideologies. Even Louis Rossman lends his name to people that bump shoulders with J.D. Vance.

Goddamn it dude is futo keyboard developed by nazis?

    [–] librekitty@lemmy.today 28 points 1 month ago

FUTO is majority proprietary software (including the keyboard!), wouldn't surprise me 🫩

I switched to HeliBoard from Futo and it's been quite nice.

    [–] MITM0@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

More like FUTO is riding on the OpenSource bandwagon & making proprietary software

Like freedom, and yet like the guy ordering door to door searches?

I can excuse gnome users but i draw the line at emacs.

    Imagine being Lunduke’s son

I haven't thought about Blowhole in ages.

    [–] Twongo@lemmy.ml 35 points 1 month ago (4 children)

    is this about mentaloutlaw?

    [–] Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de 24 points 1 month ago

I thought of Lunduke, but mental outlaw also went down the drain.

It's more common than that. Take a look at XLibre videos on youtube and you'll have a laundry list of linux youtubers describing it as 'one brave man fighting back against government overreach and woke ideology in OSS'. Those are mostly the chuds being described above.

    [–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That would surprise me because the Chuds don't tend to be pro-privacy, they tend to be very anti privacy so they can root out the "woke" people.

    [–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

They operate in this weird world of endorsing complete freedom, but also being able to exclude some groups of people from enjoying the freedom. It gets easier to understand if you remember that they actually don't care about integrity of their claims, or even validity of it.

You can say the same about tankies, who developed the software we are communicating on...

    Anti Woke Linux Youtube channel.

You mean the same operating system that:

    1. Has adopted Anarchist Principles.
    2. Is known for being used by Transfemmes?
    [–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Either linux is used by woke transfemmes or conservative Christian conspiracy theorists. There's no in between

    [–] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I don't think he is on the extreme far and of the spectrum, but there is the Linux youtuber living in his van. I think he is just doing it to travel the country and see different views every morning (but he also has a bible study second channel)

I was going to argue with you, but I went to an arguably cultish church as a child.

Two of my closest friends from that little church never met here, but ended up transitioning to female and marrying in another state. I lost touch with them and found out after the fact.

    Coincidence? I use Fedora.

    [–] Soulg@ani.social 10 points 1 month ago

I mean, trans people use Windows and Mac too lol

Handful I could think of. Few even have some decent tutorials.
