Is there a better place for bicycling shitposts?

Behold, the affordable and flexible (literally) cargo solution! The avocado cardboard produce box from Costco!

It holds multiple kilograms, while stationary!

The cardboard cargo solution loaded with two large plastic jars, a package of bathroom tissue, and a skateboard

I've been working on setting up storage for a new bike. The MIK adapter plate I'm planning to use for mounting arrived before the basket I plan to attach to it. In the interest of getting some kind of storage on there, but mostly because I wanted to tinker with the adapter plate, I grabbed the first cargo-shaped thing that came to hand.

MIK adapter plate bolted to the bottom of the cardboard box

I haven't had time to try ride testing this setup because the proper basket did actually just arrive.

That'll probably perform well until after the first good rain

A lick of the right type of paint could fix that

I'd be tempted to fiberglass over it

Bigger and cheaper than a milkcrate but certainly not as sturdy. Cheers to you for reusing though.

This community has a big problem with shitposts, they keep getting locked...

...to bicycles and then the bicycles get stolen because the post was shitty and gets ripped out of the ground by a thief.

This on the otherhand is a nicepost, I would lock it...

You should share this over at !micromobility@lemmy.world we actually have a discussion about hauling shit right now.

The attempt to be instance-neutral by using a fedia.io link breaks my ability to view the post in Voyager, causing it to open a browser instead. Kind of ironic, since using my lemmy.world account to view a thread in a lemmy.world community otherwise should've been the simplest case to handle.

I'm just on fedia.io so that's how it rendered for me, but here's a .world link that should work:

Oh, whoops! I thought it was one of those adapter services like vger.to or threadiverse.link, not just an instance. (In other words, I thought it was an attempt to solve the problem that backfired, as opposed to not attempting at all, and that's the only reason I commented on it.)

Never mind then; carry on.

Oh, that is a fun discussion! I added my janky thing. Thanks for the suggestion!

I ended up getting one of those collapsing milk crates for my basket. I swear the reduced profile makes a difference at 30kph
