Isn't this more expensive to make? You'd have to use spoke nipples that are only threaded from the outside. Those are usually only found on more expensive wheels. I assume they're pricier than standard nipples.

Mavic had a such a proprietary system yeah. Other options are like trying to get the nipples to place through the valve hole, absolute shit show

I was thinking of Mavic exactly! I don't recall the model, I think it was Ksyrium that had this type of nipple threading.

Yeah I had a set of Deemax wheels some decade and half ago, and they were just massive PITA.
