I was just recently watching some video essay on youtube, but the narrator was sooo slow I had to speed it up 1.5× just to be able to concentrate an what he qas saying, and also to not waste my time listening to prolonged words and silence. Sometimes people just unecesseraly stretch the content.

That's what kills me the most. ADHD makes me want to go fast. But I think the tism makes me struggle to figure out wtf they're saying. It's a balancing act.

Uhhhh is my 1.8x habit a side effect...I had no idea

I speed up everything, Youtube, Libby, Jellyfin. If I had to listen or watch something at normal speed I'd pull my hair out.

For real! I've got no time for slow-ass "content creators" padding their moneyization meter. I've got piles of my own shit to not do! 🤌🏼

I do this. I always thought the dopamine and distraction reasons made sense.

But someone I know who was diagnosed Not ADHD by one psychologist also does this extensively.

Grains of salt.

I really believe audiobooks are slowed down to pad runtime so people feel better about spending $30 on a 7 hour book that should be 4. I listen at 2x speed because 1-1.5 feels like it's crawling by. The only time I slow it down is for technical non-fiction discussing science and math. Otherwise, full speed ahead.

Noob behavior, real pros just forget they're listening

When I'm ADHD, but also hearing impaired so it cancels out and I watch/listen to everything at 1x speed. lmao XD
