MODERATORS

Hey people!

For the past 3 seasons i mostly have been taking care of the F1 weekend discussion threads (Practice, Quali, Race, Post race) which have been pretty fun!

Halfway last season it started to feel like a chore and after the season ended i needed time to think if i want to continue doing this for season 2026.

I would like to ask if there are people here that would like to help with making these threads and helping with moderating this channel since i am currently the only active moderator.

Thank you for all the effort you have put in! Much appreciated.

Greatly appreciate the race threads. I hope there's a way to keep them going.

Seems like it should be easy to automate a bit to post the discussion threads. I've never been a mod before but I could be willing to help depending on how much work it is

There is lemmy schedule: https://github.com/RikudouSage/LemmySchedule but it is not reliable for me for about the past 6 months.

Seems really heavy for what should be a few curl and jq pipe calls in bash with a crontab. But I'm yet to try myself yet, so what do I know?

I have an idea as to how to automate that from F1 Calendar's ICS, I'll see if I can come up with something with the free time I have on my hands.

Lemmy v1.0 will support post scheduling apparently. Currently available on voyager.lemmy.ml

Has been a native feature in Piefed forever, and Lemmy is incorporating a lot of Piefed features in 1.0

Good to know, made a second account there and i see the scheduling options.

As a mod with recurring threads also to make. I should create a script to do so, as it is a bit of a chore and I have forgotten plenty

For prospective mods? How much time does it take you currently?

The discussion threads are all about preparation, preparation is about 30 minutes per race weekend. For moderation time it depends, but also less than an hour per week.

Could it be automated?
