Really makes your think.... That these sort of statistics always lack important context.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Your comment is also not supplying context.
The context is that society is complicated and income distribution and housing stability are not uniformly distributed by region or religion, so many of these statistics just mirror painfully obvious things like:
- People in low income areas are more likely to go to prison (people in high income areas can probably afford a better lawyer & get a better deal)
- People who aren't part of the dominant religion are likely to have moved more recently
- People who have recently moved are more likely to move to lower income areas where housing is more affordable
Catholics always have been overachievers.
Does being catholic give you access to church time in prison? As that might be a nice perk that people would go for.
Why do they break the Christian groups down by denomination but not the Muslim or Hindu ones?
