I would probably evaluate it based on what sort of gains could be expected and for how many people? If it's only going to be a couple of percentage points for a couple of people, then I would say don't bother. But if it could make a substantial difference, or impact a larger portion of people, then that starts to sway the decision.

The reason I ask is because I know linux does something like that to make sure it is at maximum performance.
