WRONG ANSWER
Maybe "safe" would be a better word
Yeah, calling protesting "not a smart thing to do" takes this from being great to a completely shit take. I know it's agreeing that he shouldn't have been shot and was peaceful, but also saying "this may not be a smart thing to do" feels way too much like "both sides". Grow some cajones and say it completely. Don't put out this half assed concession. Are we supposed to just sit back and take whatever happens? Are we not allowed to make our voices heard? This is just fascist apologizing.
I decided removing the text wasn't enough.

Exactly. Straight to the point with no waffling middle ground. Thank you for this.
I made an updated version that I think is much better.
Love it!
I don't even know what that part is supposed to point out, raising one's arm isn't smart ? For all we know that drawing could be a family man taking pictures of his kids in winter
I feel like they were going for some kind of "Even if we grant your premise that him being there 'wasn't smart' that wouldn't justify killing him," and kinda fumbled it.
I didn't even think about it being the raised hand. Which if that's the case, then what, keep your hands down and your head down too? Don't look at them? Is that what he's trying to say? Bury your head in the sand?
There is nothing more heroic in my eyes than ordinary people risking harm to make sure we have evidence of all these atrocities. Not only is it smart, it’s brave as fuck and absolutely necessary.
Ramirez is usually a MAGA shitstain, so this is progress, I guess?
Touché
For those who can't tell, this cartoonist is a conservative who spent most of his career making conservative-leaning cartoons (making fun of democrats, etc.).
I think it's notable that he's making this comic, even if he doesn't share the fundamentals of political views as me. Obviously I don't agree that it's not "smart" to protest/resist fascism or help victims of that fascism, but people in this thread should look broadly to how bigger groups with different political views might be outraged by the same thing, and can work together to influence things.
Why would it not be the smart thing to do? You need the video evidence to disprove all the other allegations noted in this cartoon.
I think that the maga cartoonist including this line provides a really good insight into the thinking of a maga shithead during these times. They feel unsafe as well. It's not "smart" because putting yourself in danger of getting killed isn't "smart" . They recognize the danger that we're all in together
Is this a pipe, though? I prefer pictures that make that clear.
Ceci n'est pas une pipe
Thank you! That's what I needed to know.
