My gentleman caller swung by for a drink of water so I brought out some food in a disposable bowl.

spoilerHe was excited for pats and hungry but couldn’t finish the whole pouch.

I managed to get a feel of his spine and that boy is knobbly. A few little bald patches in thin fur. And by the snuffly snorty nose, the occasional sneezes, and the creaky meow he might have an upper respiratory infection. He was breathing huffily in excitement while being patted so I think so.

He finished eating and wandered a distance away to wash so I left the remainder out there. I came inside but removed my shoes at the door, and then washed my hands and clothes and showered to avoid bringing any diseases or parasites back to Melbcat.

I need to guess his weight or find parasite treatments that have a wide recommended weight range and see if I can get them in pill form.

Melbcat is being both clingy and sulky. Welcome home cheater…

Edit: She’s now lying on me

You're an amazing person to consider helping a stray. We have such an incredible collection of humans in this thread!

I’m now trying to think if I can get him to the vet (as they won’t treat an animal they haven’t seen). But I don’t want to risk sending him to the shelter which would be the outcome.

And the public water is probably infecting any other cat that drinks but there’s not much I can do without overextending myself ie. getting rid of the dispenser and washing an outside bowl daily (without wanting to bring an infectious item inside so I can use hot soapy water)

public water is the water that is in nature

it's ok

I've been struggling with the homepage of the website for ages. I only just found out there's a template that overrides the homepage for some reason. At least I can edit that template, but it means I can't just build another homepage in the background and switch them out when I feel like it. I'm going to see if it's possible to deactivate it in the template

Have the sads. Went out and picked up a giant Aldi tiramisu. Cos at least then it’s sads but with tiramisu.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Italian desserts are a proven cure for sads of all sorts.

Hope your weekend is good and devoid of fuckwits.

Thank you. Just the break from work is a relief.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

So damn tasty.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Hugs πŸ«‚.

A little suggestion for next time. When you grab the tiramisu also get a can of whipped cream too cos together the both of them make you forget bad shit.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

And I’ve heard the Aldi wine isn’t bad

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 6 hours ago

Some of them are so freakin' delicious they feature on wine snob postcasts.

[–] _miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Ohhh, duly noted! πŸ–€

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 6 hours ago

I convinced a client not to replace internal IT that resigned and use us instead.

It was my first meeting with them.

Victory lol

I need to pick one more thing from Adairs to qualify for free postage and use a $20 discount code but I'm the wrong gender to care about anything else from there

Ask my girlfriend and we already have too much of each. I've had a look at the website hoping to find something 'useful' but nothing stands out. And there's nothing in the kids' section that just bumps it over, which is the area I'm looking to buy from anyway

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Soap, hand soap, laundry detergent? Slippers or robe?

Edit: Oh, kids. Well there are towel ponchos and bubble bath or a triceratops chair depending on spend. The quokka toy is out of stock for delivery

Maybe add something practical, like a bath mat? I feel like having a spare clean and dry bath mat is always a good idea.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Order something for like a $100 and return it for a refund.

Simples

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 points 5 hours ago

That's actually a good idea. Hit the free postage and the discount then take the thing I don't want back

Happy thank-fuck-that-week's-over-day-time-hour day... 🍻

Here's a new choon. Last single before album goes out in 2 weeks (still gotta finish it lol πŸ˜…). This track has main-character-energy and a self indulgent guitar solo. Good summer bop. Enjoy! https://on.soundcloud.com/QmO18X2t0URB1ulcZp

Cheers ears 🍻🍻

Just got back to melbs. Forgot keys, left the spare inside.

I am clever.

Got in how I used to as a naughty kiddo when sneaking back in late (up a ladder on to the roof into 2nd story bathroom). Lot harder than it used to be lol.

Going to a jungle gig tonight though which should be a good boogaloo. Show the kiddos how it's done (after a nap, some ibuprofen and voltaren).

Checking out prices on shade sails and shade cloth between sites.

Oh cool. Kmart has a submersible solar fountain pump for cheap. I don’t want to get extra stuff and wouldn’t be able to handle keeping it clean but if someone wanted a water feature… just make sure to have rocks or sticks to let wildlife climb out though if it’s not shallow, avoid a drowning hazard.

Edit: They want a $50 delivery fee on 2 metres of shade cloth and 3 small clamps. Good one Bummings

off to beach to collect some big green turbo shells for the garden

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 7 points 13 hours ago (10 children)

Anyone else feel a bit weird seeing their pet listed with a surname? Vet yesterday went a level odder and was addressing them as Sir.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I thought vets always did it to be cute but it probably helps line up animals and owners in their system.

It's extra funny when a pet is called something stupid because the last name then makes it sound so formal
