We tried Portugal’s decriminalisation method except we left out the pesky and expensive second part about offering addiction recovery support from the government.

Decriminalization isn't working because it isn't wedded to other forms of social support to help people quit? Better recriminalize everything and dehumanize users, that'll do it.

Why do we allow everything to continually become absolute shit. One step for two steps back I'm so sick of this 'progress'

BCNDP is basically just the Liberal party (which is non-existent in the province) which is basically just the same as the old federal Conservative Party, i.e. they pretend to be progressive on social issues, as long as they don't have to actually do anything. The problem is the provincial and federal Conservatives are batshit insane psychos who want Trump to annex Canada (and they almost won). The truly progressive provincial party is the Greens - their new leader is very cool (1 2) Federally, the NDP are going through a race to select a new leader so we'll see how it turns out.
