News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

lemmy.world also blocks me from posting when I use VPN at times...

I got the same error yesterday. I thought it was from posting that bill gates said he met epstein in 2013 under a post that has him speaking about his relationship but had somehow edited out the part where he mentioned that he met the creep 5 years after his conviction

I got this all yesterday too. I thought it was because I told the moderators of r/pics to go fuck themselves.

On a picture of Greenland, I made a comment about how drumpf wants it because after 30-40 more years of climate change, Greenland will be great farmland. So instead of acting to combat climate change, him and his gang of pedophile rapists are attempting to cash in on it.

R/pics moderator removed the comment, and said if I wanted to use r/pics again, I had to reply with a carefully worded apology message to them. I did it, so I could message again, and then told them to go fuck themselves. Now I'm banned from r/pics. OH WELL.

I just got perma banned from a sub for saying Tim Walz was a spineless fuck for stepping down. This was in a political sub. Apparently we can't be having opinions anymore that aren't sucking politician dick relentlessly. I messaged them to retort, and they just said something along the lines of we don't need this kind of rhetoric in the sub. When I replied, saying I just gave my opinion on the actions of a public figure, they muted me.

This message has nothing to do with mods or your comments. Reddit would never give mods this kind of power. It happened to me too, and it has nothing to do with comments. Something was just broken on the Reddit back end. It was happening on every thread for about an hour and a half.

network security

That's rich coming from a page filled with propaganda bots

Yea, I suddenly started getting that too.

Reddit has seriously gone to shit lately, but it's got a few communities that aren't present here. Or if they are, I haven't found them.

Don't ask.

I plead the fifth.

I getcha, I do. I feel the same way, but its mostly pretty niche communities that I've not been able to find, personally. Some of which I've decided to adopt here and start up myself, in hopes of bringing light and life to them on the fediverse.

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 2 points 2 days ago

Agreed. But I'm not what I'd call a community starter.

I miss the drama subreddits but I don't really have the time to dedicate to making well researched posts because I have a full time job and wife lol.

[–] a_person@piefed.social 15 points 2 days ago

yeah, its from a vpn

[–] irelephant@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 day ago

Its to stop scraping or bots through vpns or suspicious connections.

[–] Paradachshund@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

There's something ironic about the winking snoo saying this

[–] aeiou@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Just clearing your browser cache fixes it like 80% of the time

I don't get it either

[–] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago

Got that once today, then it disappeared. Probably working out some kinks in whatever they're trying to achieve, there.
