Bénézet's book The World War and What was Behind It (1918) blamed the war on German aggression combined with perceived threats to the traditional social order from radicals and ethnic nationalists.

Other than the tiny Rhaeto-Romansch-speaking minority, there are no Swiss, just some French, Germans and Italians with delusions of nationhood. (To be fair, there are a lot of Germans.) Meanwhile, the Northern Irish are English (which would surely delight the marchers in their bowler hats and Masonic aprons).
