Man idk who this Hurley guy is, but he seems pretty fucking desperate to lick some boots. A professor of criminology? Is he an ex-cop or something?

Re the bike officer incident:

Whether it was justified or not, of course, is an unknown question

No, mate, it's not. You crash-tackling him and then 4 of your mates charging to join in is not proportionate to anything an unarmed civilian could have delivered.

Re the guy restrained on the ground who was repeatedly punched:

"The police were trying, as far as I could work out, to get his other hand out," he said.

He said there was no way for the police to know what was in the hand that was under him or whether it posed a threat.

Nope again. The video shows clear closed-fist punches. Not justified, regardless of anything else.

Yeah I didn't see anything in the video I saw from the ABC (that showed the lead up) show anything that should have caused this response. Investigation into this has to happen.

At least this time they attempted to present the other side of it. Not like the article I shared earlier this week about an upcoming ban of the phrase "from the river to the sea" in Queensland. The ABC quoted the LNP, pro-Israel advocates, and the Labor opposition's tepid "uh, we kinda like it but think some small pieces are bad". But didn't reach out to a single Palestinian supporter.
